Plan on attending a concert on the Guthrie Green this coming Saturday night!  Horton Records has designated TSAS as their local partner on October 6th as part of their Guthrie Green concert series. Along with local musicians, Jesse Aycock, Desi & Cody and Vandevander, the TSAS jazz combo will be entertaining the audience throughout the evening. Music is scheduled to begin in the early evening around 6pm.  The concert is free and open to all ages. Information about our school and how to assist our Phoenix Fund will be available, as well as some special bamboo necklaces with the TSAS logo.

 
Gardner's Books is offering the 25% educators discount to anyone purchasing books for TSAS.
 
The 2012 Serenade Night Silent Auction preparations are moving forward quickly. The Silent Auction is a major part of Serenade Night. We have written a letter to give local businesses that provides an overview of the purpose and benefit of any donation they make towards this Silent Auction. We also have a Thank-You letter to give to the business that serves as a receipt for their contribution. These letters are available at the TSAS office and can be picked up as needed. We appreciate your assistant and support and are looking forward to our best Serenade Night ever!! We Rise!  Note:  Serenade Night is scheduled for Saturday, November 3. 
 
Westminster College will be visiting Monday at lunch.  Look for the table set up in the main hall near the cafe.
 
Juniors: Your votes have been counted and the results are in. [dramatic pause] Many thanks to all who ran [dramatic pause, dramatic crescendo] for Junior Class Council. Congratulations to the following, as they will be working hard to make this the best year yet for their school and fellow juniors. The 2012 Junior Class Council is Lily Mohn, Greta Connelly, Ryan Starkweather, Abby Coble, Sam Puryear, Suzanna Smith, and Brandon Wise.

There will be an NHS meeting at noon in Mr. Stallings's room today.
 
History Club will continue to meet on Tuesdays at lunch in Room 28.
 
On My Level will meet tomorrow during lunch in Mrs. Hughes Room (32). Note that the day has changed from Monday.
 
Congratulations to the TSAS Key Club!  They raised $600 at their bake sale for TSAS on Friday! A special thank you goes to Megan Skocdopole for arranging the bake sale.  Way to go kids!
 
Today's lunch choices include ground beef baked ziti or tuna salad on whole wheat wrap with tomato and lettuce.
 
Hoodie sales will continue through October 26th. Please turn in all hoodie sale orders to Mrs. Hughes (room 32), Mr. Okapal or find the debate team hoodie table at lunch time and turn your order into a member.  There is an omission in the order form.  The third hoodie is a steel gray body with black sleeves.  If you are curious about what the hoodies or t-shirt looks like, feel free to come see Mrs. Hughes starting on Tuesday during lunch or after school.

resolution.
 
 
PSAT testing sign up is available with Mary until October 12th. WE NEED YOU: attention all TSAS parents and families! There’s an exciting new opportunity just for you: Adopt a Classroom! As we all know, there isn’t going to be any painting, major decorating or construction in our Sequoyah location for the time being. We are all searching for ways to make this building a little more warm and homey. The teachers have been through so much, and yet remained completely awesome during this transition. We would like to help them personalize their rooms in any way we can. We can decorate with posters, pictures, personal items, etc. Below is a list of our 23 fantastic teachers. Please contact Kelley Bryan at kelle...@yahoo.com or 918-261-2381 to find out which teachers are still available to be adopted. Then just choose one to adopt, contact them to see what they want or need, and then help them make it happen!  Let’s help our terrific TSAS teachers! This Saturday at 8, the Signature Symphony kicks off its season with not one, not one and a half, but two genuine concertos with soloists.  They will be performing the Mozart Clarinet Concerto and Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto.  In addition they will be playing Mozart's Don Giovanni overture and the list piece "Les Preludes".  Remember to see Asher for a voucher that will get you in for one dollar when accompanied by a parent!

Attention Students:  We are required by law to have a HOME LANGUAGE SURVEY on file for each student.  Our start of the year surveys were lost in the fire and we must replace these immediately.  New surveys have been sent home, but many have not been returned.

PLEASE RETURN HOME LANGUAGE SURVEYS BY MONDAY, OCTOBER 8th.

The language survey may be on either GREEN or YELLOW paper.  While we need all of the forms filled-out and returned, the Home Language Survey is crucial to our October reporting.  New forms can be picked up in the Office/Fishbowl.
 
There will be a debate team meeting today after school, even without Mrs. Hughes being here.  The meeting will still start at 3:00 but may not last as long as originally intended.  Please be there and on time! 
 
Jr class council will meet in Stallings's room today at lunch to discuss Fall Festival.

HOME LANGUAGE SURVEYS ARE DUE TODAY IN THE OFFICE/FISHBOWL. 
 
Freshmen and Sophomores will be taking the PLAN and EXPLORE tests on Friday, October 12th.  Students will need to bring a calculator for the math portion of the test.  Additional details about the testing schedule will be available soon.
On Friday, October the 12th, Juniors and Seniors will be touring the University of Tulsa campus, participating in a college admissions presentation and eating lunch on the TU campus.  This university visit will expose students to one of the amazing college opportunities available right here in Tulsa. This tour will coincide with TSAS testing for Freshmen and Sophomores scheduled for the same day.  Additional details will be available soon.
 
NHS will meet today at noon in Stallings's classroom.
 
Garden Club will meet Wednesday in the front gardens to mulch.  All are welcome to attend.
 
Today's lunch choices include herbed turkey burger on whole wheat bun with lettuce and tomato or tuna salad whole wheat wrap with lettuce and tomato. 
 
Hoodie sales will continue through October 26th. Please turn in all hoodie sale orders to Mrs. Hughes (room 32), Mr. Okapal or find the debate team hoodie table at lunch time and turn your order into a member. 
 
Attention all TSAS Clubs:  It's time to start planning your booth for the Fall Festival!  Remember, this is a great way to make money for your club!  Sign up for a booth/idea with Ryan Starkweather or submit your plan to a Jr Class Council Member.  Deadline for sign-up is Wednesday, October 31.  Fall Festival will be held on Friday, November 16. 
 
Students from the freshman class who are interested in participating in a booth at Fall Festival need to meet in Mrs. Ingram's room (31) at lunch on Wednesday to discuss ideas. 
 
PSAT testing sign up is available with Mary until this Friday, October 12th.  Juniors (especially National Merit Scholarship applicants) are recommended to take the PSAT and it is optional for Sophomores.  Registration fee = $14.00  Test Date = October 17th  Stop in and see Mary if you have any additional questions.
 
Seniors:  Representatives from Jostens will be at TSAS on Wednesday, November 28 at 11:55 in the GYM.  At this time you will be given information to order your caps and gowns and announcements (graduation invitations).  ALL Seniors need to be present for the explanation of the ordering process.  Concurrent students and Tech students MUST make arrangements to attend the November 28th meeting.  This is the ONLY meeting with Jostens to order your cap and gown.  If you miss this meeting, you must check the Graduate Services web site to avoid any late charges, and YOU become responsible for ording your own cap and gown.   Remember:  ALL Seniors must have caps and gowns to walk at Graduation.
 
The Jostens representatives will return on Wednesday, December 5 to pick up your orders.
