TSAS needs substitute teachers! If you are interested in working as a substitute teacher for this academic year, please email Liesa Smith at lsm...@tsas.org.  We prefer individuals who have subject-matter backgrounds (Science, Math, English, History, etc.) or teaching experience, but all those interested are encouraged to contact her.

Hey parents, we are planning to go forward with the TSAS Back to School Dance and Gathering this Friday, September 21, from 7-10 p.m.  We could use some parent volunteers for chaperones and food donations.  Contact Allyson Black at ajcb...@aol.com if you are interested in helping out.  Please encourage your student to attend!

Tomorrow we will have a garden work day from 2-4 p.m.  Please meet at the back vegetable garden at 2:00.  Our jobs will consist of clearing out the back garden, planting seeds, and cleaning up the front of the school. We need parents to bring shovels, gloves, fertilizer, garden tools, and extra watering hoses.  Also, if you have seeds you can provide, we are interested in fall root crops such as radishes and carrots, fall salad mix, and cooking herbs.   Hope to see you there!

History Club will meet during lunch today in the gym.

Key Club will have a meeting tomorrow during lunch in room 2.  We will be discussing our up-and-coming bake sale.  Anyone interested is encouraged to attend.

Academic Bowl will be having its first meeting tomorrow in Room 5 at lunch.  Academic Bowl is a club which competes in tournaments around Oklahoma, battling wits with other high schools over trivia and more.  Come to the meeting to find out how we roll!

Philosophy Club will have its first meeting of the year tomorrow after school in Okapal's room from 3:00 until 3:30.

Junior class meeting this Friday during lunch in Ellen and Asher's room.  Meet your sponsors and discuss class council.  Bring your lunch!

Student-led Bible study will be meeting Friday at lunch in Mrs. Hahn's room (#29).  Please see Rebekah Biles for more information.

Speech and Debate team and club will have a short meeting this Friday after school in Mrs. Hughes's room until 3:30.  We need to discuss our fundraiser and hand out outlines.  See you there.

Today's lunch offerings were not available but we still love our kitchen guys.  A little more patience and then we shall have this info in advance.  Til then, know you'll have something delicious at lunch time!

Several forms were sent home last week to be filled out. We are required to have these forms for each student, so please fill them out and return them as soon as possible to help us start rebuilding our files.

Juniors and Seniors!  It's time to think about what lies ahead.  If you have not already taken the ACT or you would like to take it again, register now!  Here is the link: http://www.actstudent.org/.  The deadline for the October 27 test is this Friday, September 21. Feel free to email Mary or stop by and visit with her if you have questions.

PSAT testing sign up is available with Mary until October 12th.  Juniors (especially National Merit Scholarship applicants) are recommended to take the PSAT and it is optional for Sophomores.  Registration fee = $14.00  Test Date = October 17th  Stop in and see Mary if you have any additional questions.

The Back-to-School dance this Friday is for current TSAS studnts only.  This is a celebration of how WE RISE!  (All future dances are open to approved ouside guests.)

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held Thursday, September 27th (4pm to 8pm) and Friday, September 28th (8am to 12pm)
Because conference sign-up lists were destroyed, we are asking parents to email their student's teachers so new conference schedules can be reconstructed. When you email teachers, please either provide them with your previously reserved time or email them for a new time.  Your flexibility and patience is very much appreciated.

NO SCHOOL Friday, September 28th.  School will not be in session due to Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Attention all TSAS parents and families! There’s an exciting new opportunity just for you: Adopt a Classroom! As we all know, there isn’t going to be any painting, major decorating or construction in our Sequoyah location for the time being. We are all searching for ways to make this building a little more warm and homey. The teachers have been through so much, and yet remained completely awesome during this transition. We would like to help them personalize their rooms in any way we can. We can decorate with posters, pictures, personal items, etc. Below is a list of our 23 fantastic teachers. Please choose one to adopt, contact them to see what they want or need, and then help them make it happen! Once you’ve chosen a teacher, please contact Kelley Bryan at kelle...@yahoo.com or 918-261-2381 and let her know which teacher you are adopting. If that teacher has already been taken, there will be others who are available. Let’s help our terrific TSAS teachers! We rise!

*A student must serve detention within 24 hours of notice (or by the end of the following school day).
*A student’s failure to serve detention will result in a 2nd detention.
*Two outstanding detentions will result in a parent conference & progressive disciplinary action.
*A student may choose 1 of the 3 detentions to attend.
1) Before and (2) After School Service = through time dedicated to cleaning, students are able to give back to the school community
(3) Lunch Academic Service = through time dedicated to make-up work, students are able to give back to their instructional opportunities
