Back to School Night

All parents are invited to join us for “Back to School Night” at TSAS, tonight, from 6 to 8pm.  Parents are invited to come meet their student’s teachers and learn more about the classes their students are taking.  There will also be time for a brief visit with your child’s Advisor. Parents will begin the evening in their student’s 1st hour class.  Each student will have filled out their schedule and it will be waiting to be picked up in the 1st hour class.  A short rotating schedule will allow you to travel through a mini-day in the life of your student.  This is a great night to get connected with the TSAS community.

            Period 1 – 6:10-6:20

            Period 2 – 6:25-6:35

            Period 3 – 6:40-6:50

Lunch Break – 6:55- 7:05 (Meet the PTSA in the Cafe')

            Advisory– 7:10-7:20

            Period 4 – 7:25-7:35

            Period 5 – 7:40-7:50

Parents, please find out what class (including teacher and room number) your child has first hour!  You will go to that class first tonight at our Back to School event, and that is where his/her class schedule will be waiting for you.  We are looking forward to seeing you tonight!

We are in need of cookies (store bought or home-made) and bottled water for tonight's Back to School Night.  Please drop these items off in the front office today.  Thank you!

2012-2013 Planners will be on sale tonight at Back to School Night. TSAS planners cost ONLY $5.00 and the planner also includes the TSAS school calendar, class schedule and, new this year, a Writing Style Guide for TSAS English classes. Supplies are limited!!!  Hurry and get yours before it is too late!

In regards to tomorrow's TSAS Camp Day, here is a reminder of a few things:
  • Regular school hours will apply and students can either purchase a meal from the café or bring a lunch.
  • Because we will be rotating half of the day outside (weather permitting), students should dress appropriately for the weather.
  • Remember the TSAS Dress Code requires that shorts must extend to fingertip length (even if tights or leggings are worn underneath).  Shorts and skirts must be long enough to cover thighs and derriere – even when bending over.  Tops must have wide enough shoulder straps to cover all undergarments. Spaghetti straps do not meet these requirements. Shirts must cover backs, shoulders, necklines and midriffs. Sleeveless shirts for men and women must have conservative arm openings.
  • Students are to report to their 1st hour classes tomorrow at regular time so that attendance can be taken.  Shortly after that, we will commence with our Camp Day.
We look forward to a day filled with getting to know fellow students, learning about our unique TSAS culture, discovering ways to connect with our TSAS community, and exploring our cool new TSAS building and campus grounds.

If you are interested in poetry, speech, storytelling, music, performance art, competition and/or travel, perhaps TSAS's new club will interest you. "Louder Than a Bomb" will be TSAS's first poetry slam team and will compete against other schools in Tulsa. You need zero experience to join and we are open to ALL grades and personalities. There will be a 15-minute informational meeting today (August 30th) after school in Dan's room (10) if you are interested. Everyone is welcome at the meeting whether you know what slam poetry is or not. Also, there will be cookies. See you there!

A representative from Hendrix College will be available for students to visit with and acquire information from on Friday, September 7, during lunch.  Hendrix is among the 40 schools profiled in the latest edition of "Colleges That Change Lives".  You may visit the following link for more information:  http://www.hendrix.edu/

The two-week deadline for first trimester schedule changes is today!  There will be no other schedule changes after today.  Kudos to our amazing counselor Mary for all her hard work, and thank you students for being patient during this time.

Back to School Night is scheduled for tonight, 6-8 pm. Students please be sure to tell your parents your first hour class/teacher and room number so that they can go directly to that class to pick up your class schedule for the rest of the evening.

Interested in going to Mexico with Profe Lewis next June? Parents and students are invited to a short, informational meeting tonight directly AFTER Back to School Night in the Spanish room (#13). Come check out this great opportunity!
