Dear TSAS Community,
Our new school year is off to a great start and our new school home is really coming together! When I consider all the moving, construction, cleaning, painting and unpacking that has occurred over the last month and a half, it is remarkable to think that we are already starting our second full week of classes.
With our school year underway, I wanted to share some exciting news and also to let you know about two important events that will be happening at the end of this week.
A Reason to Celebrate
We have just received our 2012 ACT scores and our test scores give us something BIG to celebrate!

These test scores reflect the five year trend of our average ACT scores form all TSAS students who were tested. The ACT is a nationwide college entrance examination that provides key information to students and universities about students’ college readiness. Students who take the ACT exam are evaluated in English, math, reading and science. The Tulsa World has a great online article that provides additional statewide information about the ACT scores and provides a list that shows how our TSAS scores compare with other school’ s ACT scores. You can find this article at - http://www.tulsaworld.com/news/article.aspx?subjectid=19&articleid=20120822_19_A9_Twenty678055.
Back to School Night
TSAS will be hosting a Back-to-School Night on Thursday, August, 30th, from 6-8pm. This event is designed to provide parents an opportunity to meet their student’s teachers. Parents will receive a copy of their student’s daily class schedule and a map of our new building. The rotational schedule will let parents visit each class, learn a little about the coursework, and meet each teacher. Parents will also be able to sign up in advance for Parent-Teacher Conferences which will be held in September. Please come meet the TSAS faculty and enjoy some yummy cookies as you discover how to get connected to the TSAS community.
Camp in the Backyard
In keeping with one of our most important back-to-school traditions, the entire student body will be spending a day at camp. Rather than a day away at camp, this year we will be having a great day of indoor and outdoor activities in our own TSAS backyard. Friday, August 31st, students and teachers will not be attending classes. Instead, they will be having fun getting to know fellow students, learning about our unique TSAS culture, discovering ways to connect with our TSAS community, and exploring our cool new TSAS building and campus grounds. Regular school hours will apply and students can either purchase a meal from the café or bring a lunch. Because we will be rotating half of the day outside, students should dress appropriately for the weather.
Remember the TSAS Dress Code requires that shorts must extend to fingertip length (even if tights or leggings are worn underneath). Shorts and skirts must be long enough to cover thighs and derriere – even when bending over. Tops must have wide enough shoulder straps to cover all undergarments. Spaghetti straps do not meet these requirements. Shirts must cover backs, shoulders, necklines and midriffs. Sleeveless shirts for men and women must have conservative arm openings.
Yours,
Liesa
