The Google Summer of Code 2012 is announced [1].
I think we can try to apply again as a mentoring organization and if we
are not selected we could failback to Python (if they will be again an
umbrella organisation).
I think we have now better ideas on how to make it a success for us and
the students.
I think we should propose less ideas but have them better described and
not only the target but also the path to acheive it.
I created the ideas page for 2012 [2].

I have added Email Integration (the pending part of IMAP server) to medium difficulty
tasks.

+1 for being under the python umbrella.

We (B2CK) have a trainee coming next week and for 3 month (or so) that
will work on this subject too. So should this task be in the GSOC
subject or not ?

I don't know yet if there will be a python umbrella.
But I think any way, we should try to apply ourself.

Just exchanged messages with Arc Riley and he said that they would be applying
as usual. But I agree with you that we should try on our own and fallback to PSF
umbrella

I suggest that we leave it on the list and the moment someone (the trainee or
anyone else in the community) start working on the blueprint, we could then
remove it from there ?
If you insist and are sure its going to be done by the trainee, then we could
remove it. Would be happy to see this implemented faster :)
I have fill the page with some previous ideas that are not yet
implemented and for which I think we have a clear vision.
The student started to work on it.
He is still in the discovering phase but we will ask him to show
progress soon.

Of course, we could not garantee that he will succeed but I think it is
better to remove it from the list of ideas.
