Rate: $55-60/hr on C2C **
Duties and
Responsibilities :
• Maintain and enhance multiple Splunk
environments. (Splunk 4 & 5, Red Hat Linux 5 & 6) (30%)
• Create
Splunk queries, dashboards, and applications for use by Operations, Development,
and Management personnel. (30%)
• Assist in troubleshooting various system,
network, and application issues using Splunk data. (10%)
• Ensure compliance
with security standards, especially PCI and SAS 70, and assist in audit
preparations. (5%)
• Monitor environment and computing resources for
reporting and capacity planning. (5%)
• Maintain systems documentation.
(10%)
• Mentor Splunk users and administrators.
• Perform other duties
as assigned.
• Participant as escalation point for 7x24 operations support.

Experience creating and supporting production high availability enterprise
environments.
• Working knowledge of Linux administration: system
installation, configuration and tuning, networking, logging, security
fundamentals, storage, and installation and integration of third-party software.
• Strong fundamental
knowledge of TCP/IP networking, subnetting and routing concepts, and distributed
computing concepts;
• Strong knowledge of Splunk administration and
maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of Splunk application development and
optimization.
• Ability to write scripts in various administrative languages
(shell, Perl, Python, Ruby).
Required Background
:
• Bachelor's Degree in a technology field or equivalent work
experience.
• 2+ years of Unix/Linux production system administration
experience.
• 3+ years Splunk production administration experience.
Desirable Background and Skills
:
• Programming background in any applicable language.
•
Familiarity with PCI DSS
• Ability to design, and present training to
varying levels of users.
