I have one of these little two man bass boats:

in perfect condition. It has been on the water maybe 6 hours total. I have a
small electric trolling motor and battery that I will include and I will
deliver it to your house or pond or whatever in the local (RDU, NC) area.

I want to trade it for a plastic 15' - 17' canoe or sell it outright for $466
(exactly, because I can get a canoe that fits my needs for that).

Longer narrative - please read before emailing questions or offers.
-----------------------------

I bought this boat to fish at a specific lake where we have property, but now
we have that property on the market so I brought the boat back to my house in
Cary. I use it to fish and it is a fine fishing boat, but it weights 120 lbs
and is a little heavy for me to load by myself. It can be car topped, but it's
easiest to haul it in the back of a pick up. I usually use a little utility
trailer to haul it. So I want something lighter. But it currently works for me;
it just isn't as convenient as I would like. This means that I am a motivated
trader, but not a motivated seller. I will not come down at all on the price if
you want to buy it, because I would need to go buy a canoe. However, I am more
flexible on trading. If you have a canoe that is not in top shape and are
hestitating to contact me because you think it isn't worth as much as my boat,
battery and engine, please contact me anyway.

In the interest of continued domestic happiness, no money can come out of my
bank account to facilitate a transaction. But if you have a boat that you would
be interested in trading but you feel is worth more than mine, please contact
me anyway. I have some other boating/fishing related items I would rather keep
but might throw in if I have to.

Some additional info on the boat - It has a live well (which can be used as a
cooler or storage), a long storage compartment, two nice swivel seats and the
bow has a slight point so that it rides well in the water if you put enough
engine on it to push it around a little fast (many of the 2 man boats do not).
It can take an engine of up to 5 HP (many of the 2 man boats are limited to 3
HP). The trolling motor I am including does not make it go that fast (don't
want to mislead anyone). As I said, it is a fine fishing boat, and if I get a
canoe I will probably question my logic on more than one occasion. It is
registered and has the numbers on it. This is more of a pain than you might
realize. The hulls on these boats are made of a plastic that almost nothing
will stick to. I had to sand the area where the numbers go, then "paint" it
with heavy duty white marine cement, then put the numbers and sticker on. It is
registered through 2003 and boat registrations transfer as part of a sale. I
have the paperwork.

For price comparison, try this site:

You will see some that are cheaper than $466. Click on one of them and add a
trolling motor and shipping. Then keep in mind you have to pay registration and
buy a battery. And finally, look at the features to compare apples to apples.
The boat I have is 8'11" x 4', has a live well, tackle storage compartment, is
prewired for trolling motor (that means you can put the battery at the other
end of the boat to distribute weight better), can handle an engine of up to 5
HP and has carrying handles. The cheap boats at the top of the page, which will
still cost you more than mine rigged up and delivered, are smaller and do not
have these features. So you can spend a couple of hundred dollars extra and
have a boat show up at your house in a couple of weeks with some assembly
required or you can save some money and go fishing tomorrow.
