Hi Folks!

I know this is not strictly cycling related...so I will just post it once on the triad cycling email list.

I am beginning to jump into some trail running and wondering if there are any other interested parties out there.
Although I've been running for a few years+, I'm new to the trails. I'm looking for some other beginners AND some experienced folks who wouldn't mind helping us along.

I've enjoyed the camaraderie of the cycling community so much, that I'm hoping we can get a similar group going for trail runners. For those of you that have cycled with me before, you understand that I'm a laid back, completely non-competitive person. This is the type of group that I'd like to gather on the trails. Whether your interest lies in shorter or longer distances and your pace is faster or slower (much like mine), I'd like to try to coordinate some runs that accommodate all.

Please let me know if you are at all interested and we can form a separate email list. We can also utilize the google run list that Lisa was nice enough to set up to announce run times and meeting places.

It seems to me that there is no better time to start, as jumping on the trails in this crazy and unpredictable weather is usually possible!!

Please send me your email and contact info (full name and preferred phone#) to dayle...@yahoo.com and remember that ALL skill levels are welcome!!!

Thanks for your interest and shared enthusiasm,
Dayle Fitzgibbons

Dayle,

You're not getting enough exercise.  Let's pick it up a bit!

Dayle,

You read my mind! Some of my triathlon buddies and I have begun trail running. Sometimes, the run leg of our triathlon is actually on a trail instead of a paved surface.  It is great for cross-training, as trail running makes us utilize so many different muscles, tendons, and ligaments, and helps make us stronger, thereby (hopefully) less prone to injury. Plus, it is totally fun! Running a trail is a lot less boring than regular running. For example, Karen and I ran a trail this past Sunday, and it was over before we knew it! And, the more I run, the stronger it makes me cycling (at which I am a beginner).

We have been running and plan to continue to run trails most Sunday afternoons at 2:00 p.m. We have been running mostly on the trails near Bur-Mil park. However, this coming Sunday, we plan to go to Northeast Park in Gibsonville to run there, as we are training to be in the Groundhog Gallop 8K on February 11th, and that's where that takes place. If anyone is interested, please join us! The more the merrier, and the greater the variety of pace groups. I myself am a slower runner, quite like a penguin, but I am getting faster!

OK...so, I lied.  Just one more invite to join the trail running group now that we have an official google group:

thanks,
Dayle
