EVERYONE IS WELCOME!

What are the rides like?
Here are the routes, and elevation charts of the 3 loop options.  We rode #1 and #3 last year.  I found #2 on Ride With GPS and thought it a good choice to add.
Option 1:  30 miles http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1029959
Option 2:  35 miles http://ridewithgps.com/routes/11402
Option 3:  38 miles  http://ridewithgps.com/routes/943006

What's the ride pace?
Because the group has been small (9 people last year), we rode pretty much together.  Faster riders get ahead, but wait at the top of climbs, at intersections, or at stores.
Oh, and we stop for photos.  Yes, we do.  We also stop for flat tires, and to help turtles cross the road.

What this is not:
This is not intended to be a training opportunity for mountain centuries - it's a social, hanging out, eating, drinking & cycling kind of week-end.
This is not a race.

It's such beautiful country up there - and the climbing is tolerable since the distances are so short.  That gives us plenty of time afterwards to sit in the river!

Other things to do:
  • Shopping - limited, but there are a couple of good galleries, and a quirky outfitter shop.
  • Hot Tubs - soak in the natural hot spring water that gives the place its name & fame
  • Massages - available at the Spa
  • Hiking - nearby is one of the southern balds; Max Patch.  Short (or take the long route) climb to an incredible view.
  • Kayaking/Canoeing - we're right beside the French Broad River and there are outfitters to rent boats & transport
