The 7th
International Workshop on Vehicle Communications for
Safety and Sustainability will address global harmonization for
co-operative ITS, including common hardware, harmonized
standards for road safety and crash avoidance, and sustainable
driving.
Senior policy makers, vehicle manufacturers, road authorities
and operators, service providers, and equipment suppliers from
around the world will discuss and debate global harmonization
activities towards ITS deployment.
Workshop Goal:
Exchange information and discuss global activities on standardisation, research and demonstrations/Field Operational Tests
(FOT) towards pre-deployment of vehicle communication based
cooperative systems.
Objectives:
- To establish awareness of the technical research and standardization taking place in various regions to support deployment of cooperative systems for vehicle safety and sustainable driving.
- To discuss and to compare lessons learned from the current and planned research projects on vehicle communications including demonstrations, pilots and Field Operational Tests.
- To discuss and agree on action items for harmonization initiatives towards deployment of ITS within the European – United States – Japan task force with links to the discussions and presentations during the week of the ITS World Congress in Orlando.
