Alfonso,
I have done this twice - the first time was a 200km stretch in 2000 and then again in 2010 when I did the entire Camino Del Norte. There are really good sites out there that detail the walk, including my blog - but the best way to experience the Camino is to 'wing' it. Start walking in preparation, get good boots NOW and break them in and above all space your stops based on your fitness - one size DOES NOT fit all - even if a website says a 28 mi walk is easy that doesnt mean you can do that every day. It is a phenomenal experience if you let it be. I stayed in albergues, hotels, camped in the mountains in blizzards, brothels, police stations...... made lifelong friends, got a new perspective on life.
So, my
suggestions:
- start working on your fitness
- get your gear ready
- pick a route (del Norte, Primitivo, the southern route through Extremadura, the tradicional ....)
- decide if you are going to do all of it or a section
- pick a time
- WALK !!
It is one of the best experiences I have had and I plan to return again next year.
Oh, by the way - some of the best books on it are
- The pilgrimage by Paolo Coelho
- Shirley MacLaine's book
- the movie 'The Way' released this year
Please let me know if I can help any way I
can.
