If people are interested in the events in Rochester, MN, I think that
the event is now public knowledge.

I received an invitation to attend. I car-pooled with a couple of friends.
One person (on this list) commented that it was the most positive event
that he'd attended in two years.

During a panel discussion, Mayor Jerry Miller of Winona, MN announced
that he had been in several meetings with MN DOT and Taxi 2000 and
concluded that Winona was the place to begin PRT in Minnesota.

It was a bombshell!

I have a handout from Winona that I put into a PDF format. I can send to
anybody for posting.

Dick,

I'm sure there are people in this group who would be curious to read any material available from this meeting. Are there any public minutes?

I have posted a link to it at my What's New webpage - it's 9
megabytes but very well done.

I think it is interesting to realize that there are many potential supporters of PRT and hopefully DM, that exist beyond the hardcore supporters of this group. This brochure took a considerable amount of time and money to put together. Is anyone familiar with this group and the leaders of this effort? They are obviously well informed and influential.

I just  received the brochure and only glanced at it, but looks like Taxi 2000 is behind it.

It's a slick brochure. Who's behind it? I think that Taxi 2000 CEO Mike Lester spent a lot of time in Winona. Taxi 2000 hasn't had the funding to develop the type of slick brochure that we see. Fastenal is in Winona. I think that they see a roll for themselves in all of this. I don't have to read the fine print on the last page to get the fact that RTP probably has a contract with Taxi 2000. I just look at the page, "Why Winona?" Does Taxi 2000 have an exclusive contract with RTP? Maybe. Otherwise they probably see a future with any number of PRT (SM, DM) companies.

Obviously, the colleges contributed to the effort. Not only is Winona about the size of Morgantown when it started (about 30,000) but Morgantown wanted to join its two campuses. Winona has three colleges. Imagine what kind of curriculum that they could develop if the students had access to each campus. Dennis, you know full well what the parking issues are on campuses these days.

Can't someone upload the brochure?  Or put it on Google docs?  Or send it to me and I'll put it on my website?
