If these vehicles were automated would they be robocars or DM-PRT?

The could be robocars. Not sure what you mean by DM-PRT.

This entire conference sounds like someone's dream world rather than
anything worthwhile.

Kirston Henderson.

Damn Kirston! We whole heartedly agree on this one. What a waste of time,
energy, and money. Who is it that has the money to fritter away in this
manner?

You just don't get it. I can believe that people employed in
transportation will go.
Why?
Well, isn't it like a medical convention? People go for the hour lecture
(maybe) and then go skiing.
It's a paid vacation, or at least a tax write-off.

Are you thinking of a combination system where vehicles are captive
to an exclusive guideway and have both off-line stations and
off-ramps for travel on the conventional street system? And have
in-vehicle switches? Some vehicles are always captive to the
guideway, others can leave/enter the guideway. Some are owned by the
"system", others are privately owned? Those that leave the exclusive
guideway can be driven on the conventional street system or be robocars?
Is there a system like this - in conceptual form?

My question was mostly in jest. The idea of wireless battery charging simply
has the look of a piece of various visions that involve robocars, dual mode
PRT, or manually operated cars in a variety of possible combinations.

All of the systems being offered by MegaRail® Transportation Systems
meet all of the above requirements except for the robocar part. If there is
a satisfactory robocar developed, our systems can carry it and if they have
a dualmode robocar meeting the system interface standards, these systems
would allow that car to be used as well.

Does this make DM-PRT another class because of on-guideway (or in an automated area) loading of passengers?

Class might be a bit too strong - how about "varient" or something similar?

Jerry Sneider, bimodal glideway does use captive driverless vehicles mixed with vehicles with drivers both under full automated control of the bimodal vehicle on the glideway.   The driverless captive are programmed to travel only between specific on/off ramps which are for either passenger stations or for between industrial, commercial or public (postal) services where bimodal receiving/sending facilities are established.  It is planned that with this supplemental highway system the glideway part of the bimodal system will conduct at least 40 % of all interstate traffic since a single lane will be able to handle over 15,000 vehicles per hour 120 miles.  This is why we believe a fully loaded captive bimodal equivalent truck or van should be capable of weighing approximately 4,000 lbs. since it is stripped of all surface street components, such as wheels, engines, fuel, transmission, etc.  These utility vehicles will supplement a large number of highway vehicles with their higher carrying capacities, high speed, non stopping station to station, safety, and no drivers operating 24/7.  Think what this will do to our economy???    respectfully Bill.  wdd...@bimodalglideway.com
