to Transition Town Maidenhead
I was humbled today by the site of the green Maidenhead and District
Housing Association development off Stafferton way. If you wonder
what low-carbon housing of the future may look like, there it is! The
children in the playground were telling me that the sun heats their
hot water, but not always, not on freezing cold days!
The houses have Solar PVs, Solar hot water panels, passive solar
heating with south facing conservatories and atriums and living
rooves. I seem to remember reading some years ago when they were
built, that they also conserve water in some way. Can anyone tell me
what the little white beehive like structures are on the roof?
I recommend a visit. Its even more fun than Homebase.
