NEWS FROM MAIDENERGY COOP JANUARY 2012
We are waiting to hear about our recent efforts to obtain grants for
renewable energy studies and energy efficiency in local homes and
community buildings. We have been assisted a great deal by Michael
Beaven and Jonathan Adams at RBWM/Our Community Enterprise.
With Inhabit Architects (Sandra Orlando-Payne) we are assisting our
local housing association with a workshop on energy saving and local
green living in January.
MaidEnergy is the community partner for the Marlow Weir Hydro Project
in association with SEPEL, and we are negotiating for an offer of
community shares on the Windsor project.
Over the next few months we will also be talking about our work at the
schools Learning for Sustainability Network, and the RBWM
Sustainability Panel.
We will be shortly announcing our first Annual General Meeting. We
would encourage anyone who is interested to become a Member and they
can do this through our new website
www.maidenergy.coop. If you are a
member you can get involved in the future management of MaidEnergy if
you so wish.
This year is The International Year of Co-operatives, and energy co-
ops are a fast growing area, see
http://www.uk.coop/renewable .
Legislation governing co-ops is also changing which increases our
ability to raise finance for projects, also younger people can become
members.
