Please amend letter and ask the President to LEAD. Straightforward & it does send from here.
Just need to ask him to educate all citizens & set a good international example. Hansen tells us it's "Game over" for climate if tar sands are allowed. Carbon now in the system may push us right over tipping point. Feedback loops not being taken seriously. Hydrocarbons becoming toxic assets.
Thanks, SC

Please pass on.

Dear susan,
This month the level of heat-trapping CO2 cracked the once-unthinkable barrier of 400 parts per million -- for the first time in at least three million years.
Humanity is now hurtling toward 450 ppm, at which point -- most climate scientists agree -- there is no saving us from catastrophe. At this rate we could get there in just 20 years.
This isn't complicated. We can either act now while there is still time to save ourselves -- or we can give up and wait for 450.
NRDC is acting. And we need you to act, too -- because at this very moment your voice, when joined with hundreds of thousands of others, can help make the difference inside the White House.
Since his re-election, President Obama has repeatedly promised new action on climate change. So far he has not delivered.
Tell him you're not waiting for 450 and neither can he!
The president has all the power he needs -- with no help from Congress -- to achieve his own target of cutting our nation's global warming pollution by 17 percent from its peak by the end of this decade.
He has the power to crack down on carbon pollution from new and existing power plants -- which spew 2.2 billion tons of CO2 into our air each year (40 percent of America's total!).
And he has the power to reject the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline, which would carry fuel so dirty it will choke our atmosphere with another 180 million tons of CO2. If we want to make the climate better we have to stop making it worse!
If he does those two things we will be well on our way toward delaying the day of reckoning. But if he does not, then 450 lies dead ahead.
Tell President Obama we can't afford to wait for 450. Tell him you want action now.
Sincerely,

Frances Beinecke
President
Natural Resources Defense Council
