Present were   Ron,  Al,  Tony, Self   which is not only RATS etc but also TSAR  (thanks Ron)

Took notes which have disappeared into copious notes black hole.  So going from memory.  And also turning into a bit of a rant of a "FIRE!"  nature.

Please remember to Support Navitus Windfarm pdf letter on Facebook (South East Dorset Green Party too) or your link from BH Green Groups & forward Open Letter to be signed by you as an individual, your group or forwarded to others of community standing (or councillors/MP who would support).   navituso...@gmail.com for responses & questions.  Thanks.

Great, thanks Al for digging out & giving us these helpful links below.

MEP (Lib) Sir Graham Watson (17.5.13) newsletter  also up against it in Europe re investment in large-scale cross border  energy transmission projects  (backlash against green energy although filthy fossil is subsidised by 7% Govt spending world-wide).

Shall pass  to Natalie Bennett 5.6.13 when some of us will be meeting her with Navitus the transcript of John Ashton's speech given to Friends of the Earth (Andy Atkins did the intro) which was highly critical of all political parties on their dismal response to our planetary emergency on a recent Question Time.   400ppm, as Al has explained in several useful posts, is an unfunny and alarming new nasty high.  His critique  (of the Stirling Study used by Challenge Navitus & Dr Langley)   has been widely circulated, appears on the LibDem website  and we await a response from  Bournemouth's Cllr Greene who requested it.

I think this is the point at which we all say ENOUGH.  Tipping point any time now given carbon in system.

If civilisation is to have a future we must listen to the best brains telling us the situation is beyond desperate.  A situation fiercely resisted, ignored and disgracefully battered by  the vast majority of mainstream media.  The mighty Hansen   (here to fight against UK Govt giving in to Tar Sands Filthspeak lobbyists from Canada   "game over for climate" )  tells us we need to return to 350ppm.    NOT seen on mainstream media, nor was Charles' recent speech on climate warnings  altho he & Harry were featured on the elephant/rhino extinction crisis yesterday.

As Angela has recently said despondently we are just unable to convey to with those closest to us  the extreme danger into which we are all sleepwalking, apparently complicit with big bad old fossil.  She and I heard smiley friendly Neil Short at a recent committee meeting giving an upbeat report about what Bournemouth Council (Earth Charter,  Big Green Partnership) are doing.  But it was Emporer's New Clothes (much tho I'm sure we all like Neil).     Carbon footprint of average B'mouthian still up at  a disgusting 5 tonnes  per person annually (down from just under 6).   Cultural disconnect/cognitive dissonance unaddressed.

Under article 32  I was NOT ALLOWED to put my questions about 1.  A beefy education programme to bring the general public up to date  (& motivate)  with the latest climate news   2.   For the council to back renewables, including Navitus.    More correspondence to follow with democratic services.

Please post back Angela if you think I'm being unfair.  At the same meeting the Chair announced that there were going to be LOTS of opportunities for renewables   and he seemed to think there were plenty of alternatives to Navitus (790,000  houses worth?).  There's a meeting coming up at the   BIC 18.6.13 renewableenergymarketplace.co.uk, you have to pay.

Ashton's   40 min speech  was followed by half an hour of questions which I've just found again by googling.    This  meeting clashed  (16.5.13)    with both the Hansen speech at the LSE  & the NOPE campaign down in Weymouth.  John Ashton CBE was the UK's chief climate diplomat between 2006-2012.  The FT (in answer to a Freedom of Info request) says the Treasury were trying to impose a veto on other departments discussing the implications of resource scarcity. He also says, "It's like a kind of bubble happening in a 5th dimension. " We need to have our societies as part of the debate. Also talks of economic damage (eg Hurricane Sandy-   and now perhaps,  Oklahoma tornado?),  moving deckchairs, carbon arithmetic..  Aubrey Meyer http://www.gci.org.uk/CBAT/swa     on crashing the economy if you don't deal with climate change.

Talked about much of the above,  then about the website and Tony's house, my house, new build/old build, retrofit. Various meetings and media efforts, thanks all.

As an alternative to wrist-slashing I mused a bit on the clifftops (wistfully looking for distant waving arms), looked at the water and ruminated on the glories of the  hipposplat.

Subject: [PA21GreenNews] CO2 & Question Time

A couple of follow-ons from the PA21 Forum stuff.

Atmospheric CO2

The CO2 concentrations are slow dropping this year, but instead have been holding a level for a while now. And low & behold, they've popped back above 400ppm again, this time both +400 measures on the same day.

NOAA

May 20 - 400.15
May 19 - 400.06
May 18 - 399.77
May 17 - 399.87
May 16 - 399.74
May 15 - 399.59

Question Time

The event featuring Mses Red & Green & Messers Black Blue & Orange is (partially) available to view if you can stomach sourcing it fromthe providers of this facebook clip (they are more purple than black perhaps).  This is an edited version of theQuestion Time programme with Natalie Bennett & Nigel Farage(pronounced 'farrarzh' as the French would, so where should we send him back to?). The mention ofrenewables begins at about 3:20. The full programme was twice thelength of the u-tube clip so be aware that editing could have beenmade at any point.
