If yes, we should probably also give the choice to the maintainer

Translators usually don't use or have commit-access to the VCS, but
retrieve and submit PO files through the Transifex and Damned Lies web
applications at translate.fedoraproject.org.
Transifex doesn't support 'deleting' stuff, only submitting new files
or replacing old files. Hence when an issue like this occurs, it is
common to ask the maintainer to do the work, as Kjartan has done here.
