Friday: Metro Vancouver votes on US coal exports -- can you show support?

This Friday regional government will vote on an important motion on
expanded coal exports out of Metro Vancouver. (See the full motion

With the westbound bike lane between the businesses and the parking, it will be much easier for cyclists to see the businesses and their signage. The number of cyclists will likely increase too meaning more potential customers.

And opposing badly needed safety improvements seems like a very poor way of attracting those 4,000 cyclists per day to a business.

Interesting to note:

Traffic Per Day
Bicycle 4,000
Motor Vehicles 3,000

That tells me that these businesses are missing a business opportunity to
market to the greater mode; cyclists

Please send a quick note ASAP to Mayor Gregor Robertson and Council <mayorandcoun...@vancouver.ca> in support of the separated bike lanes on Union and Expo. For reasons that really don't make much sense, these badly needed safety improvements are being vocally opposed by a few of the businesses in the area. Unfortunately, the businesses that do support the improvements are remaining silent so as to no upset the other businesses.

1. Signal lights should prioritise cyclists and walkers - respond immediately and
adjust the timing for the cars. Don't just fit into timing for cars. Long waits
every intersection discourages walking and cycling. Really prioritise walking
and cycling.

2. Allow enough time for seniors to cross intersections. Wider? Longer.
