The City of Vancouver today launched the development of a new City transportation plan by inviting the public to provide input and help set the city’s transportation goals to 2040.
Transportation 2040 is a two-phased consultation program. Phase 1, from May 19 to July 15, invites residents, regional commuters and stakeholders to provide feedback on the City’s progress to date and input on high-level ideas for the future.
Starting today, residents are invited to participate on-line at TalkVancouver or in-person at one of 11 public meetings throughout the city.
The on-line forum and public meetings will feature an informative presentation on the City’s transportation successes to date and a look at the challenges and opportunities to come. The presentation will be followed by an interactive dialogue on ideas for Vancouver’s transportation future and an opportunity to provide input through a survey that will inform the first draft of the Transportation 2040 plan.
Public input will help direct the draft plan, which the planning team will review with the community during the Phase 2 consultation, from January to March 2012. The TalkVancouver website will stay active during the entire period, providing program updates, public feedback highlights and news on related events.
Public meetings will be hosted throughout the city from May 25 through July 13:
