Subject: Reasonable hotels near the venue?
I was planning on flying down Sat night (I haven't had much chance to
visit around Australia since I got here), so was hoping someone could
recommend a nice, reasonably priced hotel somewhere within walking
distance of the venue for Sat night.

Any suggestions?

ciao !
Daryl.

Hey Darly!

Hmmm, I'm not 100% sure as I've not stayed in them myself but these two look
good.

https://book.chartspms.com.au/property/cosmo/b3.asp

http://www.novotel.com/gb/booking/hotels-list.shtml

They are a little ways down the road, in St Kilda, but the venue is a
relaxed 2 km walk down the beach, or a 5 minute cab ride. There is also a
fair convoy of us staying in St Kilda at my old place there, so I'm sure we
could even split the cab/car pool/walk together. :)

Anyone else know of any accommodation options for those travelling to
Trampoline this weekend?

Cheers,

Steve

Not sure about hotels in Port Melbourne, but it's worth noting there will be a crowd of us heading out for dinner and drinks afterwards - so maybe worth sticking around for Sunday night too :)

Sounds great! May take a late-ish flight out but have work Monday and things
start early in crazytown... and I have commitments Monday night I have to be
reasonably fresh for.

Was hoping to come down Friday night actually and kick around Melb on
Saturday but need to try to move a Sat morn commitment.

Daryl.

Or try AirBnB.com. I've been using it now traveling around Asia and
it's pretty awesome.

May I NOT suggest the LeoPacific Leisure hotel on Little Burke street.

@nathan_scott @irldexter and @edwardharran all know why.

It's the only hotel of it's type in Melbourne sans windows.

Sam.

hahahahah SAM.

I want to do a #trampolinespecialedition in that hotel to see if you can do
unconference formats in the worst hotel environments. :P

Hey Daryl,

Nice decision to come to Melbourne for Trampoline!

I live in Port Melbourne and unfortunately there isn't much that is
close to the venue. Depending on your appreciation of nice walks, you
could easily stay in Southbank (plethora of hotel options and nice
tourist stuff) and walk down. It would take you around half an hour.
Or a 10-minute tram ride.

There are also many serviced apartments along City Road in South
Melbourne that would only be a 10- or 15-minute walk from the venue.

See you there!

Kate

Thanks for everyone that piped in... I managed to get something
semi-reasonable in St. Kilda. Interestingly when I called one of the hotels
and asked if they could give a discount, they said no but suggested using
the site http://agoda.com to try to book the same hotel. Quick comparisons
showed those prices on average 20% below the phone in rack rate (bigger with
the larger swankier hotels), so just in case anyone else is in the same
position... You might want to try, though YMMV. At least for me, will at
least pay for dinner one night in savings... =]

I'll be there Sat afternoon and flying out dead early Monday morning to get
back to Sydders for that whole work thing I do.

see you all soon !
ciao !
Daryl.
