Thank you everyone for running your guts out at Blackstrap Hell II or
coming out to cheer on the racers! The results are loaded here:

http://www.coolrunning.com/results/09/me/Nov29_Blacks_1_set1.shtml

We had a stunningly gorgeous November day. Congratulations to Sean
Durfee for breaking the tape, Peter Keeney for fastest male, Shauna
Baxter for fastest female, Ryan Triffit for best guesser, Susannah
Beck for most injured, and Katy Hazzard for most lost! I know getting
lost is frustrating - we've all done it, but I'll take all suggestions
on how to improve marking the course into consideration next year.
Thanks to James, Ava, and Ian for helping to set up the course, and to
Jim and Chuck for picking up some of the arrow signs (that's a huge
help).

Cheers,

Jeff

Thanks for putting the race on!

By the way ... did a black long sleeve RIT cross country shirt turn up
anywhere? It was in the elastic on the front of Erin's backpack at
the start line, but at the finish line I was only able to find my
pants and jacket (which were also in the elastic...the shirt went
missing.

- Blaine

I wouldn't change a thing with the course markings. Part of the fun
and challenge of this type of race is being able to find and follow
the course. It's as important as running fast. Of course, that's just
my opinion...Katy may disagree.

I agree. I took a mile "diversion" which was no one's fault but my
own. In fact, I owe Jeff a big "thank you" for the additional
training miles I got on this most excellently difficult course. Fun
time. Can only improve next year!

I noticed a black something fall as we were carrying stuff from the
start to finish line but it was picked up. I only noticed a canvas bag
and a box of water also being carried so it could have been put back
into one of those. I don't think the water had been opened at that
point so the canvas bag is more likely.

So everyone check your canvas bag or something like a canvas bag
(paper bag maybe).

Of course it also might not have been your t-shirt.

Jeff - there was a water bottle there as well, I didn't think of that
since it could have just been mixed up with everything else. So -
most likely it was my shirt.

Did you and Greg get lost by the creek that runs steeply downhill to
the gasline? That's the waterfall or purple trail. That trail is hard
enough to follow when walking (although having the inside information
that it stays on one side of the creek helps). The trees are actually
well blazed but purple isn't really visible when running and trying to
find where to plant one's feet.

We'll have to have a course preview run next year, sort of like
Pineland and Bradbury.

Excellent job, Jeff! Truly great. The course markings were adequate,
but in my humble opinion, except for that one turn which I think
messed a few people up at roughly the 4.5 mile mark. We talked about
it.

However, I also have the distinction for making a wrong turn on a
beach 50k once, so I'm just thankful I don't end up in Kansas whenever
I run.

Blaine,

I found your shirt in my canvas bag in the back of my car.

Blaine,

I've got your bottle! Got left behind in my car when we got to
Bernie's. If I come tonight to TB (likely), I'll have it. Otherwise,
just let me know how you want to arrange to get it.

Erin must have left it behind instead of putting it in her backpack.

I'll try to catch up with you soon...I'm sick right now so I'm not
sure when I'll be around again or not. Obviously, I didn't run last
night.
