Acadia Ntnl Park, Blackwoods Campground.
Weekend of May 5th & 6th.
I am going to be going up on Fri, May 4th and camping
for 2 nights. Sat (May 5th) I hope to do my last long run
for Pineland and while I know many people are racing the
following weekend, I figure we can incorporate a short
run up by Eagle lake or something and have those of us running
longer run UP to Eagle lake and all do a loop together
(something like that).
Logistics (this is where it gets complicated so pay attention).
The group sites are NOT available that early in the season so we have
to get REGULAR campsites. Regular campsites are 2 tents, 6people max
and 1 car (don't worry about the 1 car, there is overflow parking,
usually within
a 1/4 - 1/2 mi walk). Make sure you get one of THESE reservations. I
think
there is another 'tent site' that is 1 tent per site - DON'T GET THESE
unless
that is all you can get. You get your individual site when you sign
in.
I plan to get there early with a list of ALL the reservations and try
to
get sites that are together.
I believe camping is $20/night per site (note: there is also a 'park'
fee which I don't know what it is).
I have reserved 2 sites, both are full. People need to call up (or
go online) and reserve a site.
(then work with others and offer up the 2nd tent 'site' to someone
else).
And I think people need to do this fast... just in case it fills up.
Brenda and I will be going both nights too. We're also bringing our kayaks and Django. Let us know if anyone else wants to kayak. We haven't made reservations yet but will do so soon.

I got the family and work clearance to join ya'll for the weekend.
However, as we're a one car family, I need a ride. I can leave any
time after 9 AM Friday and return any time Sunday. I'd love to be part
of this outing. I promise to be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly,
courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and
reverent while in transit. When we get to the campground, it's
business as usual.

I thought we were going to be able to come, but, unfortunately, I think we have to miss the first worthwhile bachelor party ever :( Can't wait to hear all the stories!

As folks are firming up plans for next weekend, please keep me in
mind. If you have room in your car for one more I'd love to jump in.
I can bring a tent (either 2 or 6 person). I'm willing to share a tent
with anyone and share a sleeping bag with some. I can leave from
portland any time after 9 Friday morning and return any time sunday.

Looks like I'll be heading up by myself. Right now I'm just planning to
stay on Saturday night. Anybody got a reservation already looking for a
second tent? Or anybody that hasn't reserved yet looking for a spot?

I'm gonna be riding up with Zak on Friday. Just waiting to finalize
details.
If anyone needs tent space, I can bring a 4-6 person tent. Otherwise,
I'll bring my small one.
Are we planning a dinner outing for Sat. night or should we bring all
food for the weekend?

Friday could be a bit rainy, but no worries as it looks like we're golden
for Saturday and Sunday. I'm thinking we make Friday a Geddy's night?
Unless someone else wants to do all of the cooking for me. It's my birthday
that day, dammit!
We can play Saturday by ear? I'm open to whatever. Cooking over a fire is
pretty fun while pulling tall ones out of the cooler, but I don't mind
going out to eat again either.

I'm up for eating out especially if it's raining Friday. I want to cook out
too of course, I'm thinking about bringing some venison and moose. When
Brenda and I go up there we often eat out at the Reel Pizza Cinerama. You
can watch a movie on comfy couches, eat pizza, and drink good beer. I
generally like to buy camping food up there to benefit the local economy.
We're bringing kayaks and Django.

I love the idea of Jamie's birthday at Geddy's on Friday and grilling the bajesus out of a bunch of stuff on Saturday. Plus, this way we can get last minute supplies at the store on Saturday...depending on how many spruce grouse we kill.

Pete and I will be there. We haven't reserved a site yet. What time do
people want to run on sat, not sure if we'll be up Fri or sat morning....

Are there people coming up later on Saturday looking for an afternoon run?
I don't speak for the group but I'd like to do a morning run. I assume
everyone also wants to go hiking too.

Not sure if there is a "plan" for sat running. I know people have
lots of
different distances in mind. I want to get as early (7-8am) a start
as possible
so I want to get back before Ryan drinks all my supplies!
Jamie did mention running around Eagle lake on Sun (1 or 2 laps of
5.5mi)
which might be a good option. While I wouldn't expect everyone to
stay together,
it would be simple enuf to all start together meet up after (too bad
we can't
throw Jamie in it!)

Bummer you can't make it, Blaine. Would have been great to have you and
Erin there.
Saturday morning run times...I'm not sure just yet for me. As Jim said, we
all have different plans in mind and given most of us have races coming up,
I feel it's important for everyone to stick with what best suits them and
not feel pressure. Though, of course we'd all love to run together, which
is what makes Eagle Lake on Sunday perfect, in my opinion.
I'm shooting for 15-20 miles on Saturday, and would like to incorporate
Sargent Mountain to give a better chance of invoking a spruce grouse
attack. Ryan is also planning on Sargent Mountain (11 mile version)... Jim,
doesn't your route take you by Sargent Mountain as well? Perhaps with your
earlier start Ryan and I (and whoever else wishes to join us) can get a
later start and maybe meet you along the way?

Unfortunately it looks like I'm not going to make it this weekend to the shin-dig. I really hope everyone has an awesome time and look forward to hitting the next adventure!
Have fun!

Ok, it is getting close to GO time.
I also have not reserved a site, but am heading up Friday PM. My plan is to
grab a site when I arrive.
As far as running, I also figured the run was in the AM on Saturday, most
likely in the 8am range or so...depends on how much "birthday cake" we all
have on Friday night. I figured that post-run, we'd reconvene at camp,
determine what we needed for grilling, then pick up supplies if need be.
I would recommend bringing a mug/cup of some kind. Just sayin'...

Tom's 1st and (likely) last prom is Saturday night and I wouldn't miss for the world so I have to bail on the weekend. I really hope that we can have a big party in the portland area soon, maybe when it gets a tad warmer. Have a great time with everyone. Enjoy, I'll miss you.
