IMO it shouldn't ... but you should be able to control that using
configs in your trac-env (i.e. without commenting out the script ;o)
well , some say that Trac-devs look like wolf men , but I didn't
believe it ... XD
No seriously, that feature might need more user friendly interfaces
(hopefully with time ;o) . There is a plugin @ TH.org that had

 Michelle,
Thank you! I don't really need to use email notification. I tried to comment
out sending email function from trac-post-commit-hook, still does not do
anything. Does the email function have to be there? I am pretty new on
programming. It is intimidating to work that way.
Thank you!
Lynda
On Thu, Jan 7, 2010 at 12:04 PM, Michelle Young <

 I have the same problem.
However, with tracd, everything is OK, I only have this problem when
using trac behind Apache.
I use Ubuntu 9.10 server with Apache 2.2.12 and trac 0.11.5 with
mod_python.
I've tried WSGI, but no differences.

I had a similar problem with SVN under Win2008 Server. I believe it is
because the account that the service runs under is not allowed to send
mail. There are comments in the docs about the hooks not having access
to the environment and variables, so I think it can't find something
that the mailer needs, something that the command line finds thru the

Thank you! Sorry I deleted previous post since I found out that I used
pre-commit-hook for post commit and some questiosn are resolved.
I don't think any white spaces in my path. I installed trac 2 weeks ago, and
was not sure about where is my trac_path and trac_env, I am think the
variables I set in trac-post-commit-hook.cmd might be wrong.
