Toughbook CF-18 not powering up drive or screen!!???

I have just bought a second hand 18 month old TB which was working
great until I accidentley kicked power cable and broke it with out
knowing..I then left it on and what I thought was charge all night but
it would nt start in the morning at all
The battery light is lit green when plugged in and all lights quickly
flash on start up with the battery and power light on but no display
and no hard drive light !! seems HD not even spinning up....
I have fixed break in AC adaptor and left machine off and on charge
for whole day and led was orange
then tried start up but no luck
Could it be my battery is completely dead???
any help would be greatly appreciated
