There has been more protest over p*ssy Riot than over the illegal detention and torture of Bradley Manning or the UK government's threat to invade the Embassy of Ecuador and to drag out WikiLeaks' Julian Assange. Where are the protests over the Anglo-American destruction of the rule of law? Why Aren't Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, and Chatham House on the case?

Weapons sales by the United States tripled in 2011 to a record high, driven by major arms sales to Persian Gulf allies concerned about Iran's regional ambitions, according to a new study for Congress. Overseas weapons sales by the United States totaled $66.3 billion last year, or more than three-quarters of the global arms market, valued at $85.3 billion in 2011. Russia was a distant second, with $4.8 billion in deals.

The author, a professor from Florida Atlantic University, makes the argument using statistics from polls on the Libyan intervention and the possible Syrian intervention to demonstrate that contrary to the popular presumption, the "ignorant sheep" of America are the true anti-imperial force, and the intellectuals are the force for war. He shows that Orwell held the same opinion in his seminal work, "1984."

Oppression is designed to compel obedience and submission to authority. Those who voluntarily put themselves in that state -- by believing that their institutions of authority are just and good and should be followed rather than subverted -- render oppression redundant, unnecessary.

An Israeli court on Tuesday cleared Israel's military of any blame for the death of American activist Rachel Corrie, who was crushed by an army bulldozer during a pro-Palestinian demonstration in Gaza. Corrie's mother, Cindy, denounced the verdict and accused the court of looking to shield the military from justice. "I believe that this was a bad day not only for our family but a bad day for human rights, for humanity, the rule of law and also for the country of Israel," she told reporters. The family said it would appeal the ruling.

There is no shortage of arenas where the tale of Frankenstein -- of science unmoored from values, of ambition unrestrained by conscience -- resonates today. One that stands out for many psychologists is the APA's ongoing embrace of "war on terror" opportunities that have placed U.S. psychologists at the center of coercive interrogations and other human rights abuses.

We're still living with George W. Bush's legacy -- the last Republican to occupy the White House -- which is a truth that Romney is desperate to put out of our minds. He wants to blame the bad economy, and most of everything else, on Obama.

It would be a mistake to think that the Klan mentality is dead in the U.S. Quite the contrary. The Ryan-Zerban debate has the potential be every bit as good as the Biden-Ryan debate. The question is whether Paul Ryan respects his Wisconsin constituents enough to join the debate -- and to actually ask for their votes. Such demands are inconvenient when you are a Republican "rock star" jetting around the country. But democracy can be inconvenient. And Ryan owes more to his constituents than photo opportunities.

Fuel cells are a promising technology for use as a source of electricity to power electronic devices, vehicles, military aircraft and equipment. A fuel cell converts the chemical energy from hydrogen (fuel) into electricity through a chemical reaction with oxygen.
