A superficial glance at the code makes me think that this will assume Handles are being passed. I'm copying the dryad-dev group to see if it would be straightforward to pass a DOI instead when that is being used for the item instead of a generic Handle.

Since it is a small XMLUI modification, it can be altered to support the Dryad DOI in the Dryad theme XSLT

I think that is probably the best that can be done until stock DSpace
has the concept of multiple durable-identifier authorities. (Then the
little snippet of aspect code faces the task of selecting one, if an
item has multiple durable identifiers. Probably it will need a
configurable priority list.)

I was unhappy with assuming Handle use, but didn't find anything else
to go by.
