Zazengo.com is seeking a Senior Ruby Developer.

Zazengo turns awareness into action on the web. Through Zazengo,
individuals, organizations, and media partners work together to create
and organize campaigns, activities and projects that transform
awareness into action. The platform matches user interest, location,
skills and experience to suggest new projects, and employs syndication
widgets and social networking applications to embed ‘awareness into
action’ wherever it needs to be.

Zazengo is advertising and sponsorship supported, and shares revenue
back with the ecosystem that is generating the traffic and leading the
on the ground action. Zazengo turns consituency management from a cost
to a revenue stream for not for profit orgs.

The opportunity presents many challenges. The Senior Ruby Developer
will be responsible for:

• Working on a daily basis in the codebase, implementing new features,
improving existing ones, refactoring as needed.

• Working with the lead developer to define/refine requirements and
implement the technology plan.

• Being an core part of the in-house technology team, helping to
maintain the live site while also pushing forward new development

Zazengo is largely virtual with most of the team residing in Santa
Cruz, Chicago and Boston.
Required Skills:

Zazengo is seeking the right person to take our technical team and
platform from pre-beta through launch and scaling to sustainable
profitability. The right candidate will combine the following:

• An excellent working knowledge (and love) of programming in Ruby and
Ruby on Rails. Up-to-date on latest Edge Rails technology and tools

• A strong understanding of emerging web technologies and practices
including widgets, advertising engines, RSS/Atom feeds, CMS tools,
social network connectivity, APIs, and standards including OpenId and
OpenSocial, especially in regards to their implementation using Ruby
and Rails.

• A passion for clean, simple, elegant and delightful design, at both
the interface and system/code level.

• A proven track record of developing and scaling open source based
web systems.

• A stong belief in the benefits of test-driven development, either
Test::Unit or Rspec.

• Complete familiarity with "standard" development toolset, such as
SVN (Git would be a plus), Trac, Basecamp

• Excellent writing and speaking skills.

• Experience in working collaboratively with virtual or largely
virtual teams.

Zazengo is largely virtual with most of the team residing in Toronto,
Santa Cruz, Chicago and Boston. If you meet most of these
