What a difference a year or so can make. I was glad to find that the Metro Toronto area finally has one or more Joomla user groups. However, almost all messages are quite old. Are there any meetings going on --- or because we are sliding into summer, is it likely that more will happen come early fall?
I have been studying PHP and MySQL with intentions of learning and using Joomla within this year. Some of the websites that I have done over the years can be viewed in a portfolio area I created at http://www.prowebcanada.com . I might bury this down one level later if I have time but enjoy as is for now.
I would be pleased to hear from any of you, especially if you are in the Mississauga area. A few words of advice while I am learning to use Joomla could prove a great help and it is always enjoyable to meet people of like interests. My land line is 905-916-1110.
Best regards to all,
Bill Mudry

I only have a quick minute, but just wanted to say hey! We've been
pretty quiet lately, because I think many have been busy. I'm in the
midst of moving and looking after a baby, but hopefully will have more
time at some point, though it doesn't seem likely atm.
Hope to see you around!

For those of you who knew we were expecting our first child ...
Owen James was born on July 3rd at 2019hrs, weighing in at 9lb 3oz! There were a few complications in what was a long day following induction, however mother and baby are just perfect now.
We are getting into the routine of feeds and manning the office, and should be back on track by ... Ohh Christmas!! :)

OK. Just nice to hear from you briefly. Just let me know if a meeting gets planned where I could get to know some of the fellas (and gals?). My proficiency in PHP is starting to show a (small) bit and I have a lot to learn about using Joomla! effectively --- but I sure want to. BTW - I am also moving at the end of the month :-) .

Sorry to respond so late. Your email dropped off my radar (or rather page). We are still a fairly new Joomla! User Group in the Greater Toronto Area and fairly quiet overall, with most living all over the region. I live in Quebec City (so only participate online), but have been instrumental in my role in helping the JUGT get off the ground.
With a major Linux Fest Ontario this fall, we should liven up a bit. Maybe someone can confirm the date of that event as we will need to organize ourselves for that major open source expo and conference.

I just am in the final stages of moving and am finally closer to being finished than not. Still settling in. I am now just a couple blocks west of South Common Mall. I will get back to my Joomla! studies eventually but there are a number of things that I have to get done first (such as a pile of people I have to inform of my address change). Rogers has not sent a technician out yet to rehook up my land line, so email is probably the best way for anyone to keep in touch with me until they do so. Thanks for writing.
