TORCH is riding at Crooked Creek Cycle Park in Waco on Saturday April,
19. If your calendar is open, we would like to have you join us for a
day of fellowship and riding.

Please check this forum prior to leaving for Crooked Creek in the
event we are forced to cancel due to inclement weather.

Crooked Creek features an extensive trail system hidden in the woods
of a beautiful 500 acre ranch. Trails range from easy to technical and
most will accommodate both bikes and ATVs. Crooked Creek also features
a 2 jump TT track, vintage style MX track and a junior size MX track.

The entry fee is $10 per motorcycle/ATV rider & $5 per spectator

Directions to Crooked Creek:
Take I 35 to the North end of Waco, Go East on 84. Take 31 East at the
31/84 split. Turn right on FM 939. First gate on left after Happy
Swaner Rd.

If you have any questions about this ride, please email TORCH at
in...@torchriders.org or go to www.crookedcreekcyclepark.com for more
information.

Please pass this along and bring a friend. We hope to see you out
there!

Riders,

TORCH is looking for volunteers at the Crooked Creek ride. Areas that
we need assistance with are listed below. Please do a "reply to
author" and let us know what you would be willing to sign up for.
Thanks in advance for your assistance!

** Greeters - Greet folks as they arrive and direct them to the TORCH
gathering site / canopy.
** Sign In - Sign folks in at the TORCH canopy as they arrive.
Distribute TORCH cards and trail maps.
** Ride Guides - Lead small group rides on the various trails. If the
trails are dusty small groups work better than large. Should have a
decent knowledge of trail layout.
** BBQ Cooks - Cook lunch for the group on the camp BBQ grills.
** Video - Take video footage of event. Both riding and gathering. To
be used on website.
** Photography - take photos of event. Both riding and gathering. To
be used on website.

As more needs are identified, I will post them here. Thanks in advance
for making this a great experience for all that attend!

I can do some video (helmet etc) and photography, provided I can make
it, which I'm about 80% sure I can (had a new addition to the family
last week, so those demands come first. I am at the mercy of the
wife...).

I've really been looking forward to Crooked Creek again...

Mark,
Sounds great. We will be happy to see you on Saturday morning! You
are in for a treat at Crooked Creek, especially if we have just a
little rain before hand. It will make the trails tacky and less dusty.
The trails are fantastic and well maintained. They have a variety of
trails for all abilities, from wide open fast to tight and technical.
We will have maps printed which will show everyone where to ride and
will hopefully have enough people to lead rides for all abilities.
David and Lori up at CC are awesome hosts and are always available for
advice on where to ride and what is new with the park. Promises to be
a great time for all. We normally setup on the left side of the road,
by the trees when you drive in, but might need to locate another area
if we anticipate having a large number of riders. I will talk to Lori
and get back to the forum prior to next week. Thanks Again!

I would verify that the gates will be open to the public Friday Night.
The owners live 3 hrs away from CCCP, and they both have full time jobs
in Dallas. Maybe they'll be at the property Friday night....Call before
you haul....940-367-3917.

I want to provide you all with some additional information on Crooked
Creek.

Park Owners:
David and Lori are two of the nicest folks you will ever meet and are
gracious enough to have TORCH out several times a year. Please take
the time to say hi and introduce yourself. If David is not busy
working on trail improvements, he will be happy to shoot the breeze or
show you some of Crooked Creeks hidden treasures. Lori is always up
for a good conversation as well.

Noise Rules:
Crooked Creek is concerned about being good neighbors and as such will
not allow bikes with excessive noise output to ride on the property.
The sound level aloud is 99 dB or less. Most 2 strokes with properly
maintained silencers will have no problem meeting this level. If you
ride a 4 stroke, we suggest you run the stock exhaust or a quiet
baffle or spark arrestor if running an aftermarket exhaust. If the
owners perceive your bike as being too loud, they will test it.

Schedule:
Several of the TORCH guys will arrive beginning around 8:00 A.M.
Whenever you arrive, just look for the TORCH banner. We will try and
notify everyone via this forum where we intend to setup. We usually
spend the first hour or two getting setup, gearing up, and greeting
folks as they arrive. Then it's off to the trails for a couple hours
of riding. Sometime around noon lunch will be served. This is a great
time to eat, talk and just hang out together. After a good lunch its
back to the trails for a few more hours of fun. Sometime around dusk,
we start loading up for the drive home. This is also a great time to
get to know folks. Please feel free to arrive and leave as you like.
Some of us will be there from dawn to dusk.

Food:
TORCH will be serving sausage wraps and hot dog wraps with the usual
condiments. We encourage everyone to bring their favorite beverages
for the day and something to share with the group (i.e. cookies,
chips, beans or your Aunt Helens famous potato salad.)

Ride Guides:
TORCH will do its best to lead a number of group rides on the various
trails. We usually run a leader and a sweeper to make sure everything
goes smoothly. We will also be taking photos and running a helmet cam
to capture video of you riding. This video will be posted on the TORCH
website. The more embarrasing moments will usually be highlighted by
slow motion or other special affect.

Support TORCH:
TORCH T-shirts, TORCH bike stickers,. TORCH car window stickers and
FOX hats will be on sale at the TORCH canopy. When you purchase one of
these items, you help to get the word out about TORCH and the proceeds
go directly to funding TORCH events and community service activities.

Trail Info:
Below is information on the various trails at Crooked Creek.
Trail maps will be provided when you come by the TORCH canopy.
All trails are marked for one way travel only (Remember to keep the
ribbons on your right).

I can do sweep, lead group, helmet cam (have to borrow one), or any
left over job no one else wants to do like wrestle hotdogs from
Clayton. I'll also have the highly modded works P -dub with trainers
along if any balance challenged grommets want to ride it.

David,
Long time no talk! I am going to make crooked creek
this weekend but not sure. I am planning on going to
NM this year. I will be taking a good friend of mines
15 and 16 yr old sons. In need of a small and easy toy
they can ride if I cant arrange one by then. Also need
to know when and where you guys plan on staying,
camping, hotel, driving times, and ultimate plans so I
can coincide my plans. I will also be bringing my 7 yr
old son who had his first atv (50) and camp/ride this
last weekend at BC so I am looking forward to it. I
will be taking them to Carlsbad and Balmorhea and
White Sands and anywhere else you guys go or I can
think of. The older boys are not experienced riders.
Neither is my son so we will be taking it easy.
Please let me know anything you think you can as of
now so I can reserve rooms and make camping plans as
needed.
Thanks,
RP

Riders,

The weather for Saturday looks to be awesome. A high of 83 with sunny
skies. Just a 20% chance of precipitation as of now. It also looks
like they may get some rain on Thursday and Friday. Some rain would
make the trails really good, so pray for some rain. As we get closer I
will send an update on weather as well as any last minute items.
Thanks to everyone who volunteered for Saturday!

My plan is to leave Georgetown at 6:30 on Saturday and be up at CC by
8:00. Clayton is usually not too far behind that time. Safe to say
that we will be getting there between 8 and 9. Come Early! Be Loud

Rusty, I may be up for an over nighter. Might need to borrow Claytons
tent to do so. There is no burn ban right now, so we can have a
campfire. I have plenty of wood to bring. I will run it by the family
and let you know. Anyone else up for camping?

Hi guys, speaking of campfires the burn ban has been lifted for Burnet county and Boulder Creek is looking great. I was out there this last week and there were a ton of riders but when out on the trails I didn't see a one. Also they have paint ball and a small petting zoo. This is turning out to be a great place to camp. Check it out...Mike Shine http//www.bouldercreekministries.org

Well, I finally got the green light to ride this weekend. My two boys
will ride also but we have to pack up by noon or 1pm to head back to
Austin as my brother's flying in from Cali to stay w/ us this weekend.

We should be at crooked by 8am. Put me down for whatever else needs
attending to.

CrookedCreek ride is on.

They got some rain last night.

According to the owners earlier today is was slick, but it was drying out
quickly.

Tomorrow should be good w/ some mud puddles that can be avoided.

See ya'll bright and early.

Continuing the theme of lost and found, I've got black and yellow
Coleman chair that was left behind. Let me know if it's yours.
