Business Analyst/ Business Systems Analyst

Purpose:
Partners with IT and assigned business line(s) to assess, research, analyze and document business and systems needs
in order to resolve business systems issues by recommending business solutions that meet sponsor/stakeholder needs.
Context is small to large development or maintenance projects (multiple projects - one application with multiple interfaces and/or 3rd parties).
Primary Responsibilities:
Business Analysis & Consulting
? Provides consulting services to business partners on new initiatives (small to large of varying complexity).
? Develops proposals for small to medium projects.
? Leads detailed requirement phases identifying, tracking, escalating and/or resolving business systems issues.
? Assesses, researches, analyzes and documents sponsor/stakeholder needs in accordance with Project Life Cycle and CMM deliverables utilizing reporting tools, requirements. Identifies, tracks and resolves business systems issues.
? Recommends business solutions that satisfy sponsor/stakeholder needs continually exploring and assessing options for value-add for clients.
? Together with Project Manager, determines best mix of development, interfacing applications, third party vendor solutions to meet business requirements and project objectives.
? Ensures adequate end user documentation and training.
? Contributes to successful project completion within budget and on time by identifying risks and developing/recommending mitigation strategies.
Planning & Testing
? Develops detailed plans and accurate estimates for completion of Requirements and Acceptance phases of projects
? Develops test plans and executes testing including leading the systems and acceptance testing by facilitating participation of appropriate staff in project completion.
Relationships & Communication
? Develops criteria for and participates in the evaluation of 3rd party vendors and software as well as due diligence exercises.
? Manages the detail aspects of day-to-day operations with 3rd party vendors.
? Effectively communicates and builds rapport with team members, stakeholders and business partners using a variety of techniques and collaboration from initiation to close.
? Facilitates small to large meetings and conducts information gathering sessions (e.g. JAD).
? Prepares and delivers presentations to business partners and senior management, selecting the appropriate approach based on the audience.
? Resolves conflicts/issues of medium complexity and escalates others as appropriate.
Development & Coaching
? May act as team leader.
? Provides direction, expertise, feedback, coaching and development to build the capability of more junior staff.
Continually enhances skills and builds knowledge in all aspects of the organization, the business and information systems.
Additional Information
BSA/BA will work independently on the analysis of selected business lines in the Global Valuations Program. The Global Valuation projects involves the Market Risk and Product Finance groups. The Global Valuation Program is an enterprise-wide program which seeks to ? achieve 100% governance around valuations across business lines, desks and systems ? ensure adequate internal controls and consistency between market risk assessments & accounting for profit and loss ?assure integrity of external market data inputs and internally transformed market data inputs ? documentation of market data inputs, valuation processes and controls
Project involves market data and valuations, and some understanding of pricing
across a variety of capital markets instruments.
As you are aware, model pricing of capital markets instruments can be complex
requiring an understanding of interest rates, swap rates, and prices (bonds,
equities) data, yield curves, interest rate and equity volatility surfaces,
correlation surfaces, FX Rates, the use of holiday calendars in pricing, dividends
and dividend projections using term structures, credit curves etc.
In addition to skills outlined in the posting the BSA/BA will have ?exceptional process mapping and documentation skills preferably in a trading environment ?understanding of Capital markets instruments i.e. fixed income, equity, derivatives and alternative instruments ? exposure to PAL computation for Capital Markets ? exposure to trading technology, data interface building and an understanding of databases.
