Hi,

I am trying to install the TopBraid Maestro edition. But I am getting
a constant error
"Incorrect JVM 'OpenJDK Client VM' is being used. Please refer to
http://topquadrant.com/products/ for details about JVM
requirement(s)."
How do I resolve this? ( I have installed Java 6 and eclipse 3.5SR1

Thanks,
Regards,
Nandini

Nandini; TopBraid Composer currently does not support OpenJDK - see
the Supported Platforms page: http://www.topquadrant.com/products/supportedPlatforms3.3.html

Sun Java 6 is required.

Hi Scott,
Thank you for your reply. I do have Sun Java 6 installed and Eclipse
3.5.1. In spite of this, I am repeatedly getting the same error.

Can you please provide with more information - Operating system, and the way you installed the Sun Java 6? The error shown by TBC indicates that the JVM used by TBC is in fact OpenJDK. It is possible that you may have multiple JVMs installed and the incorrect one is being used.

Thanks
~Nilesh

Hi,
The operating system is Linux- Ubuntu. Java 6 was installed through
the synaptic package.

The java distributed by synaptic package manager is in fact OpenJDK. You can verify this by running "java -version" command on the shell. Can you please remove that and install JRE from Java SE download site .

Thanks

Hi Nilesh,

I just did what you told me to do so. I installed
https://cds.sun.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/CDS-CDS_Developer-Site/en_US/-/USD/ViewFilteredProducts-SingleVariationTypeFilter
from the sudo command line and uninstalled the earlier packages. Its
still not helping!

Thanks,
Nandini

Thanks for the details. Can you please run the following command on command prompt and send us the output:
"java -version"

Also, if you know where the JAVA_HOME is (where you have installed the JRE) you can add the following lines to "TopBraid Composer.ini"
-vm
<path-to-jre>/bin/java
before the line
-vmargs

The "TopBraid Composer.ini" can be found in the root of the TBC ME installation folder. Start the TBC after modifying the file.

Thanks
~Nilesh

Hi Nilesh,

The Java version on the command line says
java version "1.6.0_0"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_0-b11)
OpenJDK Server VM (build 1.6.0_0-b11, mixed mode)

After modifying the file, it completing refuses to open by saying

A Java Runtime Environment (JRE) or Java Development Kit (JDK)
must be available in order to run TopBraid Composer. No Java virtual
machine
was found after searching the following locations:
/nb175/bin/java

The JRE files are stored in my home directory (nb175)

Thanks,
Nandini

As you can see from the output the OpenJDK was not removed completely and that is the reason for your earlier error. Also, if JRE is stored in your home directory, the path to "java" program does not seem right "/nb175/bin/java". It would be something like "/home/<username>/nb175/java/bin/java". Can you please change the value (on the line after -vm in "TopBraid Composer.ini") to reflect the correct location of the java program?

Thanks
~Nilesh

Hi,
How do I completely uninstall the OpenJDK since in the synaptic
manager it shows its not installed?

I have made the changes to the TopBraid Composer.ini by adding the
line (nb175 is the username and home directory)
-vm
/home/nb175/java/bin/java

Thanks,
Nandini

Adding the correct path should be enough for TBC to use correct JRE. Did you try running TopBraid after the change?
Thanks
