I am planning on upgrading my rudders next winter as well as adding a
hydraulic steering system. My Tolly is a 1965 38' Marinier that
origianlly came with the Chysler 318s but was outfitted in 1970 with
Model 270 Crusaders. It is a dual helm with manual cable steering and
has the original rudders as far as I know.

Does anyone have any suggestions on the rudders and/or steering for
when I do the upgrade? Informnation on the web has been non-existant
so far.

I enlarged the rudder on my 26' last year. Made some difference in slow
speed handling in forward. None in reverse.

Have you tried the Tollycraft Boating Club forums, good information.

Randal,

Hello, I am Captain Howard E. Johannssen and own a 1982 48' Tollycraft (95% restored). My reason for contacting you is that I own must of the engineering information on all the Tollycraft models constructed. In addition, my library has the engineering changes fron one years model to the next. My library has picutures at various intervals in the making of most Tollcrafts. Here is my point. I am retiring by years end and plan to assist fellow Tollycraft owners in restoring or modifing them. I am setting up my materials and will try and research if there is any help I can give you on the rudder system question. Have a great week!

Best Wishes,
Captain Johannssen
