Hi everyone. We had an admin meeting this month. I joined for the first time and wanted to provide a brief summary to let people know about what’s going on:
- The digital lock has been installed in the current space by Intercur. There are some document/contractual issues we need to deal with to formalize things with them before we can get keys distributed.
- We’re currently trying to streamline the Tuesday meetings so there’s less general meeting talk and more informal, interaction, and project discussion
- On the Maker Faire Japan, Richard managed to get us a spot in it. We’ll have a table there and we need to put together kits/items to sell and things we may want to display. Possibly discuss this in a separate session on Tuesday.
- Barcamp venue is still tossup between Hikarigaoka school and Wellsley in Shibuya. Wellsley can hold around 40 people and we have a reservation. School can hold 100+ people but still waiting on whether they’re okay with doing a barcamp there.
- Barcamp date has been set to 1/20. A barcamp will exist on that date no matter which venue gets chosen.
Also, there will be other things posted up, but I added two events to the calendar. The first is a geiger counter build workshop for Saturday 11/24. Unfortunately, it’s already full due to the limit of 6 soldering irons and the people that pre-registered. If spaces open and people are interested, I’ll post on the list:

I’ve scheduled a meeting on Sunday 12/9 at Kimono Wine Bar of the “Tokyo Tech Community Organization Super Action Kawaii Group”. The main goal of this group will be to hold monthly talks from the various tech groups and scenes in the Tokyo area. The feel would be similar to Tokyo 2.0 but including the tech/art scene, the DIY/maker/hacker scene as well as mainstream and startup tech scenes:
Lauren: Can you let me know if 12/9, 2pm at Kimono is okay? You don’t need to comp the meals/coffee and attendees should pay for their own. I want to have it at Kimono since you and Chris are key people to organize the event and it’s difficult to agree on a time to meet at the space.

Oops, I forgot to mention the other topic we discussed.
Tokyo Hackerspace will be moving to Akihabara!
The time frame set is 3 to 6 months depending on how quickly we can find a suitable space. The criteria is approximately 40-60 m^2, 100,000 to 150,000 yen/month, and in Soto Kanda 6-chome (near 3331 Chiyoda Arts Gallery).
Let’s do this!

Yes, anyone that’s interested in helping organize the monthly event is welcome to come. The first meeting will probably be to just sketch out basics like what we want to do, the format, venue, etc.

In particular:
1: remember to pre-meet folks who may want to introduce thenselves or have an interesting story to tell. The merrily ng coordinator should mske the effort to meet new people before startng.
2: dont forget financial reninders, snacks, donation and volunteering before closing out.
MRE, you really ought to sober up before posting! :)
