So, a little background:

You may know Geeks On A Plane. Started by Nick Farr, founder of hackerspaces.org.
The idea is simple:
Get geeks.
Get on plane.
Go to geeky place.
Geek out with geeks in geeky place.

Having partaken in several geeks on a plane sessions, Mitch Altman (TVBGone, BrainMachine, blue haired soldering sensei) wanted to apply the idea to other modes of transportation. He often travels between San Francisco to New York, and one day decided to try it by Amtrak. Its a long trip though, so surely he packed lots of geek projects to keep him busy.
Hackers on a Train was born.  (You could call it Geeks on a Train if you like. But HOaT sounds better than GOaT...  baaaaaaaaaa)
