Quite a few regulars couldn't attend last night, here's what you missed!

What is THS? - no newcomers
Barcamp: Venue - "try international schools"
Badges will be designed by Tayken, manufacture by Seeed (maybe)
Funding - need to look for sponsorship a la 2009 barcamp
Action item - We're looking to Lauren to lead, but she needs help.
- Romedius will start a central wiki page so we can direct people to one place
MTM: - We know the date (Dec 1,2), waiting on venue / application form etc.
- need publicity! attractive posters, flyers, etc.
- Flyers should not be done last minute, need Japanese as well
- Kits need to be counted again due to moving chaos
Badges will be the same as last year, probably.
Dangerous Prototypes will be involved again: Ian may give another
talk, sponsorship for THS badges
For the MTM contact: we should point out that the THS soldering
stations are drop-in for EVERYONE, not just for people who buy our
kits
Action item: have a MTM-specific sub-meeting as we get closer to
December (proposal: in 2 weeks, before or after the 9/18 weekly
meeting)
Action item: don't forget tablecloths for the display!
MTM solar station: try to have one again this year. Yellow balloons optional.
Classes:
need a projector for computer classes!
procedure: choose a date, put it on the calendar
Ben & Tayken will write a "How to make a class" tutorial on the THS site
We want to have classes scheduled after MTM08 in order to have flyers

Other Topics:
Mikele - we should look for sponsors for THS. "The main thing is to
keep THS open"
Lucien - his apartment has "party rooms" including kitchens,
projectors, karaoke etc. that can be rented for classes

Show & Tell:
Marko's ATTiny microboard
Usmar's 3D modeling environment
Jam's laser control board and the powered breadboard he used to build it

Sounds like I missed quite a bit. Can't wait until I can start attending
regularly again. I want to stop traveling and working under deadlines. Argh!

HI All, we do have a large venue secured. Need to choose Barcamp date
and we have a second option as well. I will update everyone at the
meeting after 9/21

Also will head over to the temp Wiki and update what I know already!

We roughly need a company or idividual donors to commit to helping us
with roughly
30,000 yen for breakfast
100,000 yen for lunch
30,000 for snacks etc. throughout the day
120,000 for t-shirts
50,000 for other supplies needed for the whole day

SWAG donated for a gift bag for people coming

DONORS will get
Logos on wiki
Logos on PR
Logos on TSHIRTS
big thank you's and tweets on the day
Special mention at the opening and closing meeting

AND Great Karma!!! and the love of DIY and Hacker folks everywhere

Any ideas who we can approach?
Lauren

Is it possible to ask people to pay for the food rather than get sponsors
for it? Swag is probably good. I suspect we'd probably need to run the event
bare bones so a catered event would probably be pushing it. For New Context
Conference by Digital Garage, there's no food available other than coffee.
There's an intermission where people go out to eat. Perhaps running the BBQ
truck outside?

There is a List of sponsors on the 2009 page + Barcampers form that time:
http://barcamp.org/w/page/401703/BarCampTokyo2009

Additionally we could contact the pecha-kucha community to spread the word.

Cheers, Romedius

One of the pricipals of Barcamp is that it is 100% free to attend and
food is always provided. I would rather at least try to find some
sponsors. We actually had no trouble with this the first two barcamps
and the sponsors get great value. I think it is very important to make
eating together and good food a part of the event. My company will be
a sponsor as we have in the past.

I think we can do this.
And I think we should.

Let's at least try. the venue is free.

Yeah, that's fine. I just think that, as usual, fundraising will be a bitch.
I'm always a pessimist though. Probably because I'm an engineer.
