I've been showing off our new Nixie clock (http://www.akafugu.jp/posts/products/nixie/) at the hacker space weekly meeting. The intention is to have a soldering workshop at the hacker space, but I haven't been successful in setting it up yet.

Programming for either will require a FTDI Adapter (will offer pre-assembled ones for a small additional charge for people who don't have them).
Hope to have time in both classes to show how to get the firmware and program them. If time permits I'd like to show how to make a small modification as well.
Is there a donation to THS included in the price. needs to be there.
also we have a standing policy that THS members pay one price and non
members another.

Yes, of course :) We will donate a percentage of each unit sold. I'm also guessing that you will add an extra class charge that goes directly to THS (like you did when we had our VFD class).

Ok so richard, please add on an amount for class for members and a
larger for nonmembers. If you send me the final info I will start to
circulate on my end too
Thanks

I've just changed the price for the class to be quite a bit higher, so
please don't be surprised about it. The kit is a lot more expensive
than I first realized, I guess nixie tubes are getting trendy.

Is it possible to change the starting time of the class to be in the daytime? If we start at 19:30 I don't think we'll be able to finish as soldering the clock from start to finish is quite time consuming.
Oh, and Nixie tubes are very trendy and getting more expensive and rarer by the day :) It will be a sad day when they are all gone.

dam I won't be able to get there by that time, more like 4-4:30. The soldering won't be a problem I can do it quickly, but is it possible to hold off the programming until I get there?

The soldering will take up the bulk of the time, so programming won't be until after 5 at the earliest I think.
I forgot to mention one thing: Programming requires an FTDI adapter. If you already have one, please bring it (any one that has a 6-pin female header marked with GND, CTS, VCC, TXI, RXI, DTR or similar should work).
If you don't have an FTDI adapter, we will bring a bunch as well.

We got 5 signups, so I went ahead and closed the class. I think there
would be interest in another if you can suggest another time. This one
wasn't even publicized apart from a couple posts on the mailing list
and some Facebook shares.
I won't be available over the weekend, could we make sure the space
gets opened? Chris S, you're going to be there, right?

Thanks for the message, actually I don't have a FTDI cable (but have been meaning to get one for a while) so if possible I would lke to buy one of yours on the day.
