Hello,

I noticed that on IE I get an authentication box with the following warning:

The server demo.toghq.com at Web Password requires a username and password.

Warning: This server is requesting that your username and password be sent in an insecure manner (basic authentication without a secure connection).

Any ideas why and how to fix this?

This happens on the demo.toghq.com from different computers using IE.

Umm... it seems that there is something on the server.

BTW... we are looking for a new default layout+template for tog, if
anyone has some proficency or knows a designer who could help on this
(credits will be given, of course) , please, tell me.

I tested this IE issue on other implementations (I tried the Success Stories sites - and some like clustic.es have this issue) and it seems to either be an IE bug or an TOG bug.

It's important to figure out, because it can cause all people w/ IE to leave the site.

I wouldn't say that this is a tog problem, but I'll check it, Andrei.
The same person prepared clustic and demo.toghq.com, so maybe is
something he is used to do.

I just tried it with Windows 7, IE8 and it doesn't bring up a auth box.  I just successfully created a user, activated and logged in.  I set up following, joined a group and sent a message.

Andrei, what version of windows and IE are you using?

I am using IE 8 on Vista. I also tried it on another computer, but I can't tell you exactly what version of IE it was.

Thats odd.  I've submitted the site to browser shots to see how it renders on other versions of IE http://browsershots.org/http://demo.toghq.com/

None of those IE shots have an authentication box.

I don't see Vista in the list and second the page that you sent is a public page. The authentication box shows up when clicking a link like this: http://demo.toghq.com/member/messages/new/7

I attached a screen shot.

Thanks for the link and the screenshot.  I just tried it on Win7, IE8 and it gives the same auth box.  The behavior on FF is that it goes to the /session/new page.  I just tried the same thing on the toghq.com site, same results.

It took my login as it should, but, I agree, the behavior should be the same on all platforms.  I wonder if it has something to do with the http redirect.
