千里步道運動是由台灣民間發起的一項公民運動，希望可以串連出一個環島的千里步道來，不但在環境與空間的議題上有很大的想像空間，也是各種民間力量的匯集點。如何利用GIS使之成為我們進行環島步道串聯的工具，以及各種資訊的整合平台，在資料不斷的累積中能進行適當的分析與匯整，是所有參與千里步道運動的人都需要學習與了解的。
