Hello Friends!

Our library has recently approved a set of guidelines for staff use of social media on the job. They are very liberal and just ask for respect and responsibility when mentioning our system or patrons.  Our director is the driving force behind this, but I'm hearing that there are several managers who are dead-set against allowing their staff log on to social networking sites while on duty. I'm wondering if anyone knows of something that might help me woo these manager's into lightening up and allowing staff to engage with the community and each other on social networks?

Thanks,

Marianne

Marianne, do you have any sense of their objections to social media in
the workplace? Is it productivity going down, distractions increasing
or other reasons?

If the director is the driving force, then the managers need to get on
board since it is part of their job to respond to the requests of
upper library management and conveying that message to downline
staff.

There have been some good articles and posts on this.  I'll see if I can dig them up!

Happy Holidays~

Thank you all so much! I'll review these and surely be able to come up with a plan.

Happy holidays.
