Everyone knows the benefits of flyering for shows. The problem is, there's not a good listing of places in the St. Louis area to flyer. That is, until now. Listed below are places that allow people to post flyers for upcoming events. If you can think of any others that should be listed, by all means ADD 'EM! Thanks.
THE U. CITY LOOP:
Vintage Vinyl (6610 Delmar Blvd.) (map) T.A.G. (6314 Delmar Blvd.) (map) Ziezo (6394 Delmar Blvd.) (map) Fifi's (6172 Delmar Blvd.) (map) Ben & Jerry's (6380 Delmar Blvd.) (map) Washington University (Large round outdoor poster kiosk in Bowles Plaza located directly behind the Mallinckrodt Student Center and Edison Theatre and Campus Bookstore, off of Forsyth Blvd.)
CENTRAL WEST END:
Ben & Jerry's (4663 Maryland Ave.) (map) Left Bank Books (399 N. Euclid Ave.) (map) Coffee Cartel (2 Maryland Plaza at Euclid) Dressel's (419 N Euclid Ave)
WEBSTER GROVES AREA:
Euclid Records (601 E. Lockwood Ave., right off of Big Bend) Webster University (University Center, between Big Bend and Edgar Road) Drum Headquarters (7241 Manchester Rd.) Serendipity Ice Cream (8130 Big Bend Blvd)
SOUTH CITY:
Apop Records (2831 Cherokee St. at Oregon) Black Bear Bakery (2639 Cherokee St.) Record Exchange (5320 Hampton Ave.) MoKaBe's (3606 Arsenal St.) City Diner (3139 S. Grand Blvd.) Dunaway Books (3111 S. Grand Blvd.) Mangia Italiano (3145 S. Grand Blvd.) CBGB (3163 S. Grand Blvd.) Mekong (3131 S. Grand Blvd.) Hartford Coffee (3974 Hartford St. at Roger) Local Harvest Grocery (3148 Morganford) The Royale (3132 S. Kingshighway Blvd.) KDHX (3504 Magnolia Ave.) (Go during the day so you can post one on the bulletin board in the lobby as well as drop off some for the various programmers you think would like to know about the show.)
MIDTOWN/DOWNTOWN:
Saint Louis University (Several flyer kiosks on campus, but they need to be approved and stamped by Student Services. Your best bet is to get a faculty member or student to get them approved, otherwise they'll get taken down.)
NORTH COUNTY:
Guitar Center (11977 St. Charles Rock Rd.) Sound Revolution (7751 N. Lindbergh Blvd. & 10075 Lewis and Clark Blvd.)
SOUTH COUNTY:
And, obviously, the venue where the show is taking place. It's usually not a good idea to flyer for a show at a venue where it's not happening. So don't flyer the Creepy Crawl with a show happening at Lemmons, for example.
INTERNET CONCERT CALENDARS:
The Great Midwest forum at GaragePunk.com
These are just a few ideas for inexpensive or free self promotion of
your band or show. Try to use all or most of these tactics for every show you self
promote. Remember, the more fans you get to the show, the better the chance
you'll have of getting booked there again and building a following in St. Louis. Good luck!
