She's cute, but she isn't Linux. I don't know what Novell thinks it's
selling here.

The real faces of Linux can be found in the various Planet sites: the
people actually doing the work. No doubt Novell marketing thinks that
they are too nerdy.

That depends on who you are trying to attract: More Chicks or More Nerds

If you're job is to attract more nerds to Linux, use more chicks.

If you're job is to attract more chicks, get plastic surgery (if necessary.) ;-)

And while I do recognize that there are nerd chicks as well,

1) Nerd chicks are more than likely not offended by the fact that Linux is being played by a woman, and in fact probably enjoy the fact that Linux is a chick.
2) Nerd guys are more than likely attracted to hot chicks.

This is brilliant marketing on the part of Novell.  As a marketer, understanding your target audience is the key to success.  They obviously understand their target audience.

Cute, I like this one better than the first. My girlfriend points out
though that it neglects to include the point when her jacket bursts
into flames and she tries frantically to take it off only to find out
20 minutes later that it's sewn to her skin. I guess that's the price
I pay for using development releases.

Hello Brian,

My wife also loved the second one, apparently she is incredibly
well dressed and hit all the right spots with the leather jacket and
panther :-)

Hello,

People on the planets are *developers*, are you pretending for a second
that the people portrayed in Apple ads are Microsoft and Apple developers?

In countries like Germany, Brazil and Spain where Linux is taken for granted
the user population of Linux are as normal as any other population.  Just
Flickr for "FISL" for example.

Miguel.
