 TIPCA JANUARY NEWSLETTER

It is almost countdown for the year 2011 and soon, a new year will dawn
upon us. It is time to look back on what has happened in your life and look
forward to a new beginning. I hope and pray that one and all had a
fulfilled Christmas and that the birth of our Lord marked a new start in
your lives. I want to wish each and everyone of you a very Happy New Year.
Let God be a central part of your life in the new year and may He look down
upon you lovingly and protect you throughout the year. As January rolls
around, may our TIPCA association grow in number and may each and every
member make an effort to come to the various activities that we host – both
social and religious, so that we can all enjoy each other’s company and grow
as a community. In the month of January, let us pause and remember some
of our favorite saints – St Elizabeth Ann Seton on Jan 4, the teenaged St Agnes
on Jan 21, St Francis de Sales on Jan 24 and St Thomas Aquinas on Jan 28.

 DECEMBER ACTIVITIES:
December Monthly Mass: Dec 4th was the annual joint monthly mass hosted by
the TIPCA and ICH (Kerala Catholic group) at St Thomas Aquinas. It was
attended by about 120 people with a special dedication to St Francis
Xavier, the patron saint of Goa. The choir did a great job as usual and we
had the privilege of singing in Malayalam and Konkani. The social gathering
was held in the big St Thomas Aquinas Hall with fantastic food provided
by both communities. The monthly faith quiz was a contest between the
males and females of our community. I posed three statements to each group
and they had to guess “Who are these Men/Women” in the Bible. The females
fared far better than the males in this contest. Some of the statements and
answers were : She was selected the wife of Isaac (Rebecca)…. He joined a
eunuch in the chariot (Phillip)…She was the mother of John the Baptist
 (Elizabeth)…He killed a Phillistine champion with a stone (David)…..
Following the departure of the ICH group, we had the annual elections for
the new year 2012. The new 2012 TIPCA Committee is:
 President……………….Mel DMello
 Vice President……….Stella Naik
 Secretary……………Ruby Saldanha
 Treasurer………….. Anand Pinto
 Entertainment Secretary.. Vera Barretto
 Mass Coordinator… Sharon Dacambra
 Choir Coordinator…….Josephine Soares
Food and Social Coordinator… Nigel Dacambra
 Web page Coordinator… Meryl Pinto
 Children’s Program Coordinator.. Natasha Naik
We want to give a big vote of thanks to the outgoing 2011 Committee
Members – John Andrade (Secretary) and Sanford Almeida (Web page
Coordinator). I do hope that you will actively support your new 2012 TIPCA
Committee who will work tirelessly in a voluntary service to give you a lot
of activities to be engaged in and participate in.

Dec 3rd saw many of our TIPCA community do a great volunteer service as we
serenaded the Sugar Land Health Care Center Nursing Home on Matladge Way
with Christmas carols and called out BINGO for the next hour. The happy faces
on the folks of the nursing home was a sight to behold. THANK YOU ALL TIPCA
Members who participated and Vera Baretto for organizing this event.

Dec 10th – Childrens Christmas Party was cancelled. Although we had a very
low rate of sign ups we still wanted to go ahead with it as we really like
to give our young folks a nice Christmas Party but we had further last
 minute cancelations by participants.

Dec 17th was the Adult Christmas Party at Taj Hall, 5615 Savoy Lane,
Houston, Tx-77036. A packed house of attendees in their Christmas best were
ready to have a time of their lives. The  DJs Nigel Dacambra and Chris Pinto and
the MC Nigel Pereira kept the party   moving along with witty jokes, games and
music. The snacks, dinner and dessert was wonderful and plentiful according to
most guests. Fr. Santy of St Laurence graced the occasion with his presence and
the new 2012 TIPCA Committee was introduced to the crowd. It was hard to close
the hall down at 1:00am as the party wanted to continue. THANK YOU TO ALL WHO
PARTICIPATED and a BIG THANKS to Stella Naik and Vera Barretto for a great
 planned program.

 JANUARY UPCOMING ACTIVITIES:
Our monthly mass will be held on SUNDAY Jan 8th, 2012 with rosary at 4:00pm
followed by mass and a social. The sponsor for this event is Jude and
Heather Noronha who would like all to remember in a special way:
Claude and Thereza Noronha, the deceased parents of Jude
Gregory and Audrey Carvalho, the deceased parents of Heather
 Antonio Fernandes, Jude's brother-in law's Dad.
I hope that all will come to pray with Jude and Heather for the above and make
this function a success with your presence.

Please mark your calendar for the following dates: Tuesday Feb 28 and
Wednesday Feb 29. We are proud to partner the sponsorship of the Divine
Retreat Center Potta Priests for a Retreat to be held at St Thomas Aquinas
Church from 2-5PM session 1 and 6-9PM session 2 on both days. Although this
is a week day event, I would encourage one and all to attend. All the sessions
are completely different and it would be meaningful to attend all of them. Please
bring along any of the sick people that you know as well. The Potta Fathers
have given retreats for many years to overflowing audiences and their
healing ministry has been witnessed and praised by all who have
attended. Please make it a point to attend this FREE event. Please RSVP to
Ingrid and Stephen D’Souza. Phone 281-288-7462. Email: divineretreathouston
