Hi Bob,
There is a user group for the Nspire Navigator on google groups as
well. I didn't see you on it so I thought I would mention it.
Here is my experience with the 84Navigator-I have been part of the TI
Connectivity in Math and Science research study for the last four
years (it ended in June) so we all got a lot of training on it and
people to ask if there were problems. I wouldn't choose to teach
without one of these systems now, they are so useful. The upgrade to
using it with Vista?W7 is now that I have to actually send back the AP
and they will upgrade it and send it back (4-6 week turnaround). Not
sure I want to be without it for that long, (or pay $350) so I was
interested to read that it may work on Vista/W7 if you do a virtual pc
running xp.
I have ordered the new Nspire Navigator, but there is no firm ship
date yet for us regular people. My only experience with it is at the
Tcubed international conference in Seattle last March and it was
amazing. Not to have that "connection failed check the cable"
messages on the kids calculators all the time would be great. Also
there is a seamless screenshot from there calculators rather than the
wait and the interruption of the kids work. Someone who actually has
it in their classroom would be able to tell you a lot more (see first
sentence of this email).
About the MAC:
I downloaded the trial version of Parallels 5 and put W7 on there and
I can't get ANY program associated with the Navigator to even open.
So next I will try to load xp somehow and try that instead knowing now
about the upgrade to the AP needed to work with Vista/W7.
