From permaculture I have learned that the problem is actually a solution (a twist on 'got lemons? make lemonade')

Problem #1 I'm bummed most colleagues at my school are not ready for the Nspire.....
So, what if I utilize this?

Problem #2  Some students have already purchased a ti84 and engraved their name on it and used it for about 1 year or less.  I want them to have an Npsire when they take my Alg/Trig course.   They are few in number since they usually buy them in 2nd year algebra.  Do I continue another year with 84 to placate the 3-7 out of 32? <and 'withhold' the Nspire from all the others>  or do I find a way to get those few to Nspire-land?  That's what I would like.  [I do have a class set of 12]

Here's my question?  What is a fair deal for a 6-12 month old ti84+SilverEdition? 50-80%???  (I think most payed about $120, right?)
My thoughts have been to somehow connect students in other classes who need a deal with those in my class who are being asked to upgrade.  This is potentially a problematic proposition!   (irate parents, guarantees, bounced checks, etc.)

Post a sign outside my classroom?  Contact the other teachers?
Have students use Craig's List?

ps
The transition in the past was not all that problematic with 83 to 84, but 84 to Nspire is different.  I have a feeling the faceplates will come in handy for students who take Geometry with me using Nspire and then get a teacher who uses 84 for Algebra 2--oh well, what can ya do!?

If someone has notes/webinar from a presentation on 'transition' I'd appreciate it.  Lee? Sue?

Thanks, Travis

I know we all have tight budgets, but what about buying, for yourself, or having the school buy 10 nspires that you can rent out for the school year?  Say maybe a fifty dollar fee that 25 would be returned to the student at the end of the year if the nspire is returned in excellent shape?  Just a thought!
