Yes, I am starting a new thread!

I was wondering in anyone out there was using the Nspire Navigator and was also a traveling teacher so that you change classrooms several times during the day.  Do you need a seperate access point in each room, or can you unplug it from one room and easily move it to the next room without much setup?

Any tips would be appreciated!

As far as I know, the software needed to use it needs to be installed
on the computer the access point is plugged in to. So, if you're
traveling room to room, the best solution would be to get a cart with
the access point on top attached to a laptop. That way, you only have
to install the software once (I think you're allowed 2 installs, max),
and then you can put all the handhelds in the cradles down below.

Hope that makes sense!

I'd say you can unplug the access point and plug it back in when you get to the other room, with generally no issues.
There have been times when I have my computer turned on and running Navigator and then realize that my access point in plugged in or connected to the USB. I plug it in and it has started working.

We do know that the cradles are associated to an access point. You can add additional cradles if the cradles are already in the other room. But in that case it would probably be easier to just plug in the access point in that room. I guess we need more info about the situation and setup.

I don't have Navigator, yet. I plan to this year.
I suggest TI re-think their policy of number of installs......On the
premise that the software cost them more than the hardware, why
couldn't they allow several installs? I would like to loan my
Navigator to others for them to try it out. The laptop/cart
configuration puts an extra hurdle in the path. One must have the
calc-backs to communicate, so having the software reside on many
computers seems workable. However, I don't want to complain too much--
I am delighted they are offering student software for free (how long
will this last? It was ~$70) and had the Learn-to-Earn for teacher
software (if I could just get more colleagues to try it!), so they
probably have a feasible reason.
Also, at $2700 per teacher, those leery of hardware upgrades and
hesitant of how wonderful it is will balk...(several years ago I opted
to have a colleague try out Navigator 1.0 with 83/84 instead of me.
She liked it for the most part, but it was a bumpy ride. I assume
it is improved now)

Jessica,

I'm a traveling teacher and I have found it is much simpler if you
have laptop and you take all your own Navigator equipment with you
from location to location. I leave my charging bays in one location
(usually home), put the cradles, nspires, access point, and laptop in
a gym bag and am ready to teach anywhere I am needed. I charge the
cradles every 3 to 5 days depending upon usage.
