Hi. Thanks for your help in test-solving Time Capsule, our puzzle
event for the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament in March.
There are 30 puzzles for you to solve. You can find all of them in the
Files section of this group. Most are simple Word files; a few require
color printing (or on-screen viewing if you don't have access to color
printing). Each puzzle commemorates a year between 1978 and 2007, one
for each year of the crossword tournament's existence. With the
exception of the puzzle for 2007, you can solve the puzzles in any
order; 2007 should be done last since it requires solutions to the
other puzzles. Our hope is that a team of four will be able to solve
all thirty puzzles in about an hour.
As test-solvers, we would like you to solve as many of the puzzles as
you can. Do not use any references, since solvers at the tournament
won't have any. Please let us know approximately how long each puzzle
takes you (individually or with a group) to solve. It's especially
important for us to know if a puzzle takes you more than five minutes.
We'd also like to know of any errors you find. Feedback on the
presentation of the puzzles and any other thoughts you have would be
