Does anyone know about the dress code for visiting at the Beto Unit. I
have never been there?? Will they allow open toe shoes? or a sleevless
blouse? etc.etc. Do they allow the quarters in a see thru baggie?
Thanks

Hi, no sleeveless blouses are not allowed at any prison unit. If you do
wear one, you will need to take a cover up such as another shirt with
sleeves, etc. Also, you will not be allowed to remove the cover during the
visit.

Open toed shoes are allowed. I always wear toeless footwear and I also
prefer shoes with no heels as these are easy to slip off since you will need
to remove your shoes and hand them over for inspection upon entereing. You
will be best off wearing a blouse or top or dress with either short sleeves
or long. No short skirts; capris are allowed as long as they are beneath
your knees. Also, no see-through fabric type clothing and no low cut tops
exposing cleavage.

The most comfortable clothing, I think, are slacks or jeans and a short
sleeved top. I carry a light jacket inside with me in case air conditioning
is too cool in the visiting area (or too cold in winter).

Yes, you can carry quarters or other coins in a see-through baggie or
see-through plastic type coin purse. No paper money allowed. You are
allowed to take in $20 worth of coins per visitor.

Anyone else out there in TifaTalk land...have I forgotten anything else
important to pass on?

Louise has done a great job of summarizing the important points! The
only thing I can add is, if you think you might not be allowed to wear
it, don't wear it. Some people like to play games with things like
capris--below the knee at one unit is not always below the knee at
another. I always wear long pants, slip-on (and off) shoes and a plain
shirt or blouse. I too like to carry a light jacket because sometimes
the visiting area is a little cool. I also clear things out of the
trunk of my car so that anything they see there looks like what you'd
ordinarily see in a car trunk.

Thanks Louise great info, they were real lax at the Smith Unit, I saw
a little bit of everything there, like this one woman, she had a very
low cut blouse and was well indowed! Gee this is going to be so much
easier than going out to Lamesa! Thanks WL

Thanks to you also Joan. That sounds easy enough for me. I knew I
could count on my TIFA friends. I will give a report when I get back!

Oh yes.... if you have children..... you are allowed to carry in one
gallon ziploc see thru baggy with 3 diapers a small see thru ziploc
plastic baggy with wipeys and 2 bottles of milk or sippy cups with
juice or milk for the child. I usually put it all i nside of the one
gallon baggy along with the $20 in coins in another ziploc baggy. and
my ids and keys in the bag as well ....do not take in your cell phone
either! They are not allowed
