I was hoping to get find the most parsimonious way to move tiddlers
from one tiddlywiki (one that's standalone ) to one that is served off
Tiddlyspot. Can I update the original TW to be able to sync with my
tiddlyspot site by copying certain key systemconfig tiddlers? Or is
there an easy way to transfer (easily @ 200 and thus difficult to
manage ) tiddlers from the original TW to the hosted one. I am using
the TW as my lab notebook and pretty much have focused on just using
the wiki rather than worrying about TW functionality improvement
(though I think I could come up with some suggestions). My computer's
drive crashed and I realize the utility of keeping this wiki "in the
cloud" rather than just on my drive. I had done some backing up so I
wasn't totally lost but I would like the added level of security (and
global access) that comes with hosting the TW online. Any advice would
be much appreciated
Thanks,
Ash

You can do that. The two key tiddlers you need are UploadPlugin and TspotSetupPlugin. In your original wiki import those two tiddlers from your Tiddlyspot site (plus anything else you need). Then save and reload and you should then be able upload your original wiki as a Tiddlyspot site.

Note with a minor edit to TspotSetupPlugin (see below) you can have it upload to any Tiddlyspot site. (Of course you need to know the password and enter it in the usual place).
config.tiddlyspotSiteId = '
edit-this-site-id';

Thanks for the tip. I tried it and it seemed to work fine (the
original wiki appropriately displays the seemingly functional "upload"
button) and I got the little message that the file was about to upload
to the site http://scottlabnotebook.tiddlyspot.com/index.html and then
the next confirmation line appears appropriately: Main TiddlyWiki file
uploaded.
But when I reload from the website, it's the same old file. I have
noticed this with another tiddlyspot wiki as well that some of the
updates that I try to save to the web directly do not actually take
(even though there is confirmation of the save)
Any further advice would be much appreciated.
I was sure that your advice should have worked... but this next
problem appears to be a browser refresh or tiddlyspot issue (to my
naive analysis).
Thanks,
Ash

Occasionally browsers cache a tiddlyspot site inappropriately. If you
do a shift-reload (as in, hold Shift when you click the Reload button)
that will force your browser to skip the cache and get the latest copy
of the site.

There's also a way to give your TiddlyWiki a "never-cache" property:

Hi,

I imported the tspotsetup & uploadplugin from tiddlyspot to my
tiddlywiki file, but when I use the upload button, the message comes
up as 'Main Tiddlywiki file saved', and not as upload to tiddlyspot.

Anyone have this problem?

Hi,
I have had this same problem. When I tried to upload tiddlyspot from
my work computer using IE I couldn't do it. But I loaded Firefox and
it worked from then on.

Hm, I'm using the latest Firefox and it doesn't work.

Am I missing something?

Does the site id in the tspotsetup plugin match the site name you signed up for?

Yes it does

When I first imported the 2 tiddlyspot plugins I was able to upload to
tiddlyspot. But then I saved and refreshed the offline tiddlywiki, and
when I try to upload it again it just pops up the message 'main
tiddlywiki has been saved'.

Hard to guess at what the problem could be then. Can you send your
wiki to me as a zipped attachment? Send it to sup...@tiddlyspot.com.

Silly question, but just to be sure:
Are you actually using the "save to web" button in the sidebar, instead
of the "save changes" button?
(This just happened to me and it took me a second to realize my error.)
