Is anyone using TW with Opera 10?

Hello,

Opera 10 seems to run TW much faster than FF 3.5. Searches happen in a
blink of the eye.

This may not be a fair comparison since I really have too many windows
open in FF at the moment.

But, Opera doesn't seem to successfully save -- instead TW hangs up.
Or at least my very busy version of TW hangs up. I haven't tried a
lighter version yet.

Is anyone successfully using (and saving) under Opera 10?

Thanks!
Mark

Yes, I'm using it with Opera 10 on a Mac, where you need to use a JAR to allow it to save.  Which platform are you running Opera on?

Cheers, Tony.

Hi Tony,

I'm using Windows XP. Hmm, maybe I should try it with the downloaded
JAR. Except, where do I put it?

Thanks,
Mark

I have used opera a couple of times in the past(on Ubuntu), and I
remember it errors out badly while loading Eric's tiddlytools. AFAICR
it does a couple of other unwanted things too.

In the past I've found that the linux versions of Opera were somewhat
orphaned compared to their main-line siblings.

I tried putting the jar file in the directory with the TW file, but
after clicking "save" and waiting a good long time, I got a message
that the file had not saved.

Then I tried downloading a fresh "empty" with a jar file. When that TW
loads, it gives me a warning about Java security, which I OK. And ...
I can save the file.

Forgot to mention that when I load my working TW, I always get a
message:

[Error:
name: ReferenceError
message: Statement on line 67: Undefined variable: ActiveXObject
stacktrace: n/a; see opera:config#UserPrefs|Exceptions Have
Stacktrace
]

I'm guessing that because of this error, Java is unable to do its
security check, and so my working TW is unable to save. I suppose I
could spend days trying to see which of too-many-plugins is causing
the problem.

For me empty TW does NOT save too (official updated Opera 10 turbo),
so, there's NO support for this browser, I presume.

I'm running Opera on Mac OS X Snow Leopard, and saving works correctly
with the TiddlySaver.jar file in the same folder as the TiddlyWiki
HTML file. "About Opera" reveals:

Version information: Version 10.01
Build: 6746
Platform: Mac OS X
System: 10.6.1
Java: Java Runtime Environment installed
Browser identification: Opera/9.80 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X; U; en)
Presto/2.2.15 Version/10.01

Best wishes

Jeremy

Did you try putting the java saver jar file in the same directory as
the file you were saving?

I also find that TiddlyWiki works with Opera 10 under OS X, but not Linux.  Cheers, Tony.

Works fine for me on Ubuntu Karmic.
After opening a fresh TiddlyWiki, I approved the applet, created a few
tiddlers, saved - and after a few seconds (no idea why it's so slow) I
got the confirmation.

Interesting.  I'm running 64-bit openSUSE, curious about the difference with Ubuntu.  Cheers, Tony.

Do you have the saver jar file? And/or, does the 64 bit version (linux
and Opera) support Java?

Here is an opera Querk.
When checking
"Use the tab key to insert tab characters instead of moving between
fields"

The tab space is inserted AND the curser moves to the tags section

I have found that some errors shown up by IE but not Firefox and
Safari show up in Opera. I've started to look into the errors and
found that my first two were more Firefox being kind rather than Opera
being quirky.

For example a missing ">" closing a div in viewtemplate had no effect in Firefox or safari, but it did in Opera.
I also found that an array in zzConfigs was not available in inline tiddler scripts. I had to put the array into the particular script.
